This idea comes after noticing how routinely bogged down Merchant's can get when doing business with players. They often have to repeat the same answers to the same questions, search sacks for things, travel all over to meet people, etc. I felt like this system would expedite certain aspects of the Merchant cabal and make it a bit more accessible to everyone...and maybe a bit less exhausting for the Merchant.
Merchant passive skill - Catalog
Syntax:
catalog
This skill gives Merchants the ability to catalog any items they currently have for sale. In a manner similar to a Warmaster's "record", players could type "catalog " and see a list of all items complete with prices.
Example:
catalog Oahdh
Oahdh has the following items for sale:
-
Emerald Sword 1 15,000 gp 15 cp
-
Major Globe... 1 35,000 gp 35 cp
-
Arctron 1 120,000 gp 120 cp
-
Heart of a nymph 12 5,000 gp 5 cp
Once an item has been bartered/ordered, the item would be removed from the catalog, or quantity reduced.
The idea could be further expanded upon for things like placing orders if chars are far away from the Merchant (subject to the Merchant's approval) and a delivery mob brings the item to the person for an extra "shipping/handling" fee (which would be paid half to the Merchant and half to the Family)
Syntax
order
Example (using above):
order oahdh 2 cp 1 - sends a message to Oahdh that Joe Blademaster has ordered 1 Major Globe for 35 cp, do you accept this order? yes/no
If yes, a mob brings the item to the person after a couple ticks and the person is charged a shipping fee in gold based on level of item.
What do you guys think?
