Just a thought: there are some classes that can kill this guy with hands tied behind their backs and there are some classes that cannot kill this thing with all the ancient scrolls in the verse.
Why are we rewarding the brute classes with a near limitless sanc? All this does is punish the weaker classes with vials and a drug addiction.
There's always Merchant. And drug addiction is a total non-issue.
True, and don't get me wrong--this is not a gripe, just a curiosity. I know there are vials and pills and leaves, and orbs out there to be got. But I think we can all agree the staff is the best sanc device in the game and a few classes that need it get left out.
I'd wager there is one that's better, but you can only get it once.
What classes would you say can't handle it? I've taken it down with quite a few...
Noone can balance all the mobs in the game to take exactly the same time and effort to kill with ANY class possible.
Yes, your dwarf blademaster will have a very easy time while your necromancer will struggle, but that's how things are supposed to be.
I've killed the undead wight with an illithid necromancer. However I was the Rat King of Syndicate which helped
So no idea why you even bothered posting this
Now though, it's even easier to kill it with a necro, since you can bring in and out your pets too.
The wight can be a major pain in the ***. Ive died so many times to that damn thing in the past. Ive stopped playing characters because of that thing lol.
After a while you will see that all classes can kill the wight. Just some require some "tactics" and some advanced knowledge of how the wight reacts to your character, and how you are buffed.
For example if you are flying, the wight will try to dispel you more

Or he will hurricane the **** outta you...I like to sanc myself with a vial or something if he plagues/poisons me. He'll go for a dispel and knock off his own stuff.
I used to use the same trick, but I would smoke a leaf to fly if he plagued/poisoned me.
wouldnt getting it only once be the huge con that makes it not as good as the glimmering staff?
What's that? Heralds are good to have for friends? Couldn't agree with you more there, Kyzarius.
The wight is easiest to kill with a ninja
I usually never risk bringing a necromancer into a tough arena battle. One slip up and your army is gone. Luckily they don't need that staff.
Red Dragonorb works well if you have pets and even though it's not lvl 50 sanc, sanc is sanc. If you're an illithid you can at least hold it and if it drops you can reuse it without any downsides, but that staff isn't always worth going for. I personally am impartial to that dragonorb though. That and the new orb isn't too bad either that has level 40 sanc. And if you have wands you can use the ankh which can be very useful and easy to obtain. Just depends on if you can coax someone into a little help too.
Which one holds more charges after the Herald visit (taking both applicable cabal skills into account) and which one has the higher level casting? I don't have the stats for either of the items we've been talking about.
both have the same level I believe and the quest item has many more charges.
