Arena: Expansion

I just had an awesome idea. Make the arena MUCH more elaborate and expand upon the equipment. Why not be able to get a full set in the Arena? Just like if you make your way through the arena it opens up different rights or privileges in the Arena.

It's an interesting concept. Maybe make each fight give a half a set of equipment or something? I don't personally care for the arena. I'd rather see characters OUTSIDE it than spending more time IN it.

I played a mud where the arena transported both players to a variety of battle arenas where both players put in a given amount of gold and the victor got the gold. There were also team battles that rocked as well.

I just read the post where we can give out EQ info and the arena EQ is out there now so why not expand it? Shouldn't be too hard to code and it makes solo play a little more interesting.

I get enough Solo Play out of this game and I don't want that. No one comes here for solo play (except for whatever it is Volgathras does by himself in his IMM room).

However, you gave me another idea: Let's expand the Arena. Give it over to Merchant and Warmaster in some capacity.

I like the idea of giving it over to merchant to work with. Too bad there's only like...one.

Also, I would like to see the Arena opened for pvp competitions. This would give people a chance for fair contest with no outside interference, and allow bystanders to "observe" without fear of becoming involved in the competition.

Just my take on it. Even better if the observers and competitors could place bets.

I have been pushing for a wager system in challenges for a LONG TIME...because I secretly want to RP a prizefighter (art imitates life... or life imitates art...the jury is still out on that). I am all about Croyvern's idea.

Think of the Arena as an extension of Warmaster: Battle Clan Members can prove themselves there and Inductees can have their Challenges in here. Inductees can also pick the terrain (give the poor bastards something!). I don't recommend the idea be extended to the entire Warmaster cabal.

PvP: Merchant can set up wagers (if they're online) and collect some profit. No Arena equipment collected for these battles. Winner gets a portion of the revenue (notice I say revenue, not profit) and the loser gets Nothing.

Merchants: Can set up shops in the outer area of the Arena if they are online for wagers. Merchant can set the odds. Maybe even the wagers could kick back some arena equipment.

I don't know. It's all a rough idea and I'm too tired to think it out further. And don't forget, Krins can RP his prize fighter. Notice I say RP, because like me and the Detroit Lions, he's a long shot.

I'd like to point out that while I can't PK... I do carry about 50 different chokes and a right knee with at least 6 involuntary nap victims... hater...

I am totally loving Valek's idea though. Lots of opportunity for RP and RP created via the results. I mean... owing money to the Merchant Mob... throwing a fight to cash in huge... LOTS of fun to be had.

Don't be an ******* foxx, just because you don't RP doesn't mean that others don't enjoy it.

I like the idea of a wager system! Would be great for merchants! You could wager gold, or eq, of equal value of course, and bet on fights vs mobs or other players. I think it'd be a great way to get people to actually RP instead of mindlessly pk each other.

I prefer RP when it's genuine, not enforced by some in-game mechanism.

Besides, I find it funny how everyone says "Oh I like RP so much", then they log in with their 1 year old shelved characters (who are supposed to be deleted too) and start attacking and killing people left and right.

I am sorry to be blunt, but you guys need to wake up and come back to the reality.

I liked the original idea.

I say, give gladiators subcabal a challenge arena skill.

If they win they get CP and cabal recognition.

But if the other one wins, he should get a big reward. You need a carrot for people to fight in the arena.

Perhaps a crapload of CP. And some unique single piece of eq.

For example a banner +2 hit/dam, with +2 luck or +25 HP.

A titanium plate with +3 hit/dam, but with -3 svs spell.

See, a rare eq that geared vets have but with a small bonus.

Light spiked Gloves of +2 hit/dam, +3 STR.

And place a rotdeath flag on the eq to prevent people from looting them, or overhording.

With this gladiators would have a huge RP boost, and few would decline challenges.

I like where this is going people...keep the ideas flowing. Everyone knows you can't stop a Brain "Storm"...it's a force of Nature and FREEDOM!!!
