Ghosts

Anyone else tired of ghosts trashtalking you?

I propose that when ghosted, players have the spell "ghost-talk" cast on them. This is a speech modifier, just like ogre speech or drunk speech, and would be affected by comprehend languages.

When under the effect of ghost-speech, sentences are drastically modified.

Example:

Normal:

Player X (ghosted): I could have beat you! You got lucky! I'm going to get you back! You are full of trash!

Proposed:

Player X (ghosted): Wooooooooo. Wooooaahhhhhllll whisper whisper haunt Whooooooooo. So cooooooollld. woooooooo. RED RUM RED RUM.

This would help enforce RP and encourage the suspense of disbelief needed to engage in the game.

It's silly but I freaking love that idea.

Like.

shrug I would say let Healers understand them, but wtf good is that? Healers don't exist anymore and resurrection has become a near worthless spell.

How'd you really just manage to turn a good idea into a lame flame on healers...

LOL. Valek likes it, he just doesn't understand how to say so.

I like it. I was just offering an option to allow Healers to understand ghosts, but not certain of how truly useful that is. No flame. Just frustrated that an excellent class went from being passively useful to what was seen as a viable PK machine (silly power gamers) to having the Heal spell gimped in combat (a quick nod to the fact they were nearly impossible to kill and still are)...I'd like to see some kind of "resurrection" or "ritual" come to both sides.

This would truly amp up people staying in the Cabal PK game if each side had a "medic".

And, as Mali pointed out, I'm having great difficulty saying what I want. I've spent the last three days with Kindergarten, 2nd graders, sophomores, juniors, and seniors while working on formal reports of these observations, an educational project based on problem posing in a classroom, an essay on the hypothalamus's chemical reactions to psychoactive drugs, an essay on relationship stages as related to the movie "He's just not that into you"(I hate speech class), three sections of math, and last, but certainly not least, reading a short book of 204 pages.

My mind is burnt out. Welcome to my spring break. I also used a week vacation at work to do all this....lol...tomorrow is 5th grade, and 8th grade the day after.

I don't like it. At all.

How would you RP with your victim after you've killed it?

If the trashtalk is so bad you can always report them. If it is deserved.. well you deserve it.

Also, I ofter congratulate the people that have managed to kill me, if it was a clear and smart kill. The last thing I want is the game modifying my congratulation line.

How would you RP with your victim after you've killed it?

Same way most do now, you don't.

I think there should be an auto-smite everytime someone gets beat to pretty hurt while their foe is still just barely scratched, runs and then talks smack as they try to find a hiding place.

I like this idea though. Most of the time the "rp" you get form a recently defeated foe is a diatribe about how cheap and lame you are.

You made me smile Rev.

Haha. I think you're pretty good at doing that

Thumbs up to the original idea, though.

Okay okay I got it, "Liadon! GET ON MORE!"

__>'

<__<'

Dinh just scares the hell out of me, he's a brute and my little thwack thwack only tickles him, he said so!

In other news...

I dunno... It'd be cool to be able to comprehend ghosts but I don't like the fact that I can't heal evil characters.

So far in RP some "evil" characters may have alternative motives, but there are cases where I find myself fighting beside one for the same cause. I have one person in mind to use as an example.

If healing an evil person is looked down on by the Gods, then punish me, but do so AFTER I've committed the crime.

Sometimes I feel the game affects the rp horribly.

EDIT:

sorry for changing the topic, it's been on my mind for a while now.

Re Liadon: please direct questions on rp and align / ethos on prayer or make a separate thread, has nothing to do with this post.

Keep in mind that align > cabal. Healing something you abhorr would still be a bad act even if that person happens to have similar goals for the time being. Outcated healers loose ALL spells.

I really think you should roll a druid, or something, Liadon. A druid obsessed with order so you can get that neutral cleric feeling.

How would you RP with your victim after you've killed it?

The radical response to this question is that you RP before you kill them

And afterwards perhaps, when they are alive again and can consider their response.

Or, you use the spell or herb that lets you comprehend languages.

Thank you for the feedback!

You made me smile Rev.

Like I said, my brain is fried.

RE Mali:

I would literally PK myself if someone bothered to RP with me BEFORE I died. It's usually less RP and more "I'm going to kill you and I told you I'm going to kill you, therefore it counts as RP before I killed you". I would f'in DIE in my CHAIR if we hit an 80% ratio for RP that REVEALS something UNIQUE about the character BEFORE I died. RPing something out of someone before they come to kill me is like frickin' pullin' teeth. It's only when you're not a threat that most people will sit and RP. I get more RP with Moderate vs. Moderate.

Unless my attacker is a Syndicate Assassin, I almost always RP before physical violence occurs. My favorite time to RP is durring the fight. I figure I am likely to lose anyway, might as well do my best to create a log that the readers will enjoy.

Edit: By the way, after a full days thought, I can see no downside to this idea. You did good Mali.
