Training

I agree that some disclosure on things is needed. And this does not come from me wanting to know everything. It comes from the fact of I have friends interested in this game, a couple have tried it. You know what the resounding opinion was?

"It's fun, a lot more interesting than I thought, but I know NOTHING, I get lost, the Wiki map doesn't help, and when you aren't online, I just don't log in because my character has finite lives."

I'm para-phrasing of course. And the fact remains that some people will tell me that the people just won't fit in with the community. I think the community should be able to adapt and fit the new people in.

Qclasses/Races are earned things, they are things that SHOULD remain secret, but the standard race class combos should have more in depth things listed.

Perhaps not even listing the unique items. Heck, I'd be impressed with some detailed mapping of areas and notations like "Mithril can be found here!" or "This place hosts monsters that are great for training." even things such as "There is a flaming polearm wielding monstrosity here. Careful!".

It still makes you do some of the work, but it also makes it easier for someone to be LESS overwhelmed with the task before them. Trying to compete with ten year veterans when you don't have ten years of experience means they are ALWAYS going to be ten years ahead of you in the learning curve. The skill curve is something I think would be better to work off of.

I'm rambling, but training is something that I think could be toned down a bit. And I think the flow of information could be a little better. But that's just me.

I'll say this briefly: Transparency via the forums has been something, that while Taboo, there have been great strides made in. "Mapping" FL is nearly laughable without a step-by-step direction guide for newbs. How FL is seen is subjective given ones perspective on direction within FL and how they "see" the layout of the lands.

The ideas for transparency are also subjective, especially when it pertains to areas. Most people will develop a greater desire and curiosity about a new area they stumbled across and died in. It's a greater incentive to explore that area, an adventure hook, and is one of the greater parts of the addiction for newer players.

At one point in time, if you search the forums, there was a list of where to get basic equipment. As for giving out training areas, well, look south of Rheydin. Anyone who wants an easy PK just heads down there and whacks a training character. Training is a dangerous, period. Vulnerability stems from the boredom associated with training.

Both sides of the arguments have their ups and their downs. I'm just one of the people who believe that we need more free information to those uninitiated with FL and don't have a clue about what low and mid level equipment is available (though you must also admit that not everything would go on this list as it would be an insane list and without the ID files, the list is damn near worthless, LMAO)

Re Demiterracotta: I wouldn't mind you making some maps with the notations you proposed and posting them here

Per my understanding, ANYTHING that is not quest related, rare-item related, cabal-related, or any other way considered as "secret", is free for share as OOC.

Why there isn't maps that Demiterracotta mentioned, is not because of lack of coding, has nothing to do with the staff, it's the laziness of the community.

And since this discussion inspired me, I'll ask one question. I have my ID list as website-interface. Am I allowed to make it open accessible, if all the "should be hidden" (rares, uniques, quest-items, etc) info is not shown? Currently it contains 853 items, absolute max of 20 identicals.
