A lvl requirement on gear

I've thought there should be a lvl requirement on gear for a LONG time.

Problem: Lowbies having nice gear cause of "oops, I found it" reasons.

Solution: You should have to be within 10 lvls of the item lvl, else it zaps you and sacrifices itself.

Thoughts?

I agree with this idea. Only on rares, though.

I agree as well, but only after the gear balance project is completely.

Currently, there are some rares whose power does not correspond to their strength.

Disagree.

Imms deal very well with players who abuse this. I always enjoy the rare occasion I find something nice laying around.

Example: I found a Silver Circlet of Divinity laying in the Central Commons of Rheydin at the beginning of December. Said character I was playing was NOT a paladin. So, what did I have? Definitely not some crazy insane item, but it is considered unique.

well I find alot of gears power does NOT correspond directly with the level of the item. Wedding bands from the random jewelry shops is also level 0. Definately the power of the item is not represented by the level of the item.

Definately the power of the item is not represented by the level of the item. Exactly. I think if you see a low level character with some nice stuff, you should ask them about it IC. "oops I found it" is likely the weakest excuse I have ever heard. I do not believe that we are seeing "Gear by OOC connections" like we did ten years ago. I have often seen very nice gear laying in the floor of the mud school ( a problem caused by pits being directly above the entrance btw). While I do not believe that the immortal who created the titanium fullplate intended for low level characters to have it, they also put in the "safety" measure of making it rare. This meant you have to be of high enough rank to have it taken from you in order to hold it, thus creating balance in PK. That being said, kill them and take what you want.

Well something else you need to factor in is that alot of that l33t gear is possible to get at level 30. Including, but not limited to, Fullplated, spell turning helm, withering scythe, fire lance, frost burned bracelet, moonstone pendant, bracelet of lies, Djinni bands, Major/Minor globes Horns of Cthluhu, Tentacle of Cthulhu boots of protection, rod of time. The list is actually very big if your smart and careful. I used to use an invoker/blm team to get pretty much any magic weapon I wanted once they reached level 29 for voke, and 27 for blm.

What I am trying to say is you cannot make the assumption that gear was gained in a dastardly manner. Most of the time it IS a lucky find, or the item is laying on the ground. I have gone after tentacle leg plates a few times, only to find them on the ground when I got to the mob. Same with pincer staff/crabshell leggings. Then there is always the thief that looted the gear, and then got pked in it.

Indeed, and Erana once laughed at me because I told her I can kill Tiamat at level 30 with a group of 3. She claimed it to be impossible... so I was forbidden to PK at level 30 while wearing my Tiamat skin

Never said that because I myself have done it before at the warrior dragon slayer rank, solo.

If I remember correctly, you had a lot of questionable gear at the time and you were quite actively PKing in it.

Let's not skew things here.

I walked into mud school to see a bag with a lot of really powerful equipment in it. It's actually happened twice. Equipment that I clearly do not know where to find, as I had a hard time finding the mobs to get apprentice cloaks from. ;D

facepalm Dude....go bowling. It's better for your health than calling out IMMs in public.

You are right, in the end, it's their game, either obey or be banned...

Took down the centaurian dude with the topaz at a very young age w/ a dwarf warrior once and I got this message in the room: An Immortal snaps her fingers. You guys place bets when we do foolish things?

Funny how defying god works like that.

No, I'm saying if you're having an issue, off to the prayer forum with you.

I once died to a mo.b I was trying, went to my pit and got a chuckle, and a wink.,

So random...reminds me of this one time at band camp....

how is it random following a story regarding an imm watching someone kill a hard mob early? I died, instead of succeeded. Instead of snapping, I got a chuckle.

You must have the attention span of a gnat On crack In Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

Can you help me get through Gear? I think that's where my brain is. Either that or I left it in Psychology class....I feel so...scattered.
