I like the current exp/gold/cp design for quests. I think you should be able to have a fourth set of quests outside the exp/gold/cp ones. Easy, Medium, hard, and reward quests. Reward quests should issue quest points, that can be used to purchase things ranging from Quest Armor/Quest weapons/RP houses/cabins/areas (with approval of course). The items could be temporary, a number of RL hours, or permanent based on total cost. House areas would require "upkeep" in the form of quest points. Failure to upkeep means the area goes away (to prevent shelving/deleting from mucking up the game with loads of now irrelevant areas)
The points could be restricted at lower ranks, similar to malform, and sader weapons are, to prevent it from being farmed at a lower rank to use at a higher rank. I think this could give alot of people goals beyond armies, ctf, and would give us something to do in the OMG I AM SO BORED time that seems prevelant.
Those houses could give more RP too. Have dinners, and parties, and break-ins, families etc etc. I really think it would be a sweet addition.
Side note. If any of you asshats say no, please say why eh? Try to flesh this out so it is an idea that is worth implementing.
I like the idea but I think you are taking it very soft.
Why should the items last just a few hours? We need more custumization, we need more unique things that define the character.
I think that in his life, every character should have a chance to bind at least one item to him and give it a nice colorful name. Especially those characters that make it to E/L.
I don't like the idea, the clan quests already gives cabalpoints by the way.If I wanted to have a house to give dinner and parties I would play sims.
I mentioned CP. Cp cannot be used to get tangible rewards that noone else has gotten, or explore an RP concept noone else has done yet. Look at Sepahoona with the altar, why wouldn't you want to do that stuff?
He means that guild quests now give gold/exp/and a small amount of cp, not clan quests.
Guild quests give CP? That's new for me.
Lets try it out...
Im sure a **** ton of RP went down there when Irpel was around. Now that he is gone, the house is in disrepair. That is why I suggested the zones requireing upkeep. So those zones that where used as RP, are used FOR rp, then when the RP does not exist, nor does the place.
Your about as ****ing helpful as herpes. Why is it useless? Why is this something that is not wanted? Why do people (you) think this is bad?
Maybe because this is enforced RP/PK mud not some kind of social game.as I said if I wanted to play social game I would play sims, not FL.Not to mention that the staff can do far better things like new races classes areas and bug fixes not silly houses.
Ok a few things. number one it takes less than 3 minutes to build a 1-3 room zone. Number two it seems like your distaste of the idea is because it is not what you want. So make some ****ing idea suggestions that you want to see, instead of just pissing on idea's other people post. Be constructive or just don't bother posting.
And Im suggesting rewards that enhance both RP and PK. Now you said yourself it is an enforced RP/PK mud. I am failing to see the logic in you saying its an RP/PK mud.
There is always the option of you do not have to use the suggested system either. If you do not want the rewards, then don't put out for them.
I know I have been bored to tears waiting on apps to go through, so instead of grinding away hours of nothing, I could be doing something to tangibly benefit my character, and hopefully the mud.
Also, any multiplayer game is a social game. So if you only want to grind for power play ADOM (and ****ing hate life for never beating it)
With such poor pbase we cannot afford such changes.
So you suggest that instead of enhancing all the downtime our small pbase has, you want to wait months for new races, classes, and zones? Awesome. I am starting to see the downsides of decriminalized marijuana now. Thanks for ruining my day.
With such poor pbase we cannot afford such changes.
Wow....just...wow...if we dont' change, we are static and everything stays predictable. We need to promote change, short and long term, to ever make anything better. Or else it stagnates and dies.
EDIT: On a side note you are apparently working for my case on convincing The Nameless that legalizing marijuana is a bad idea.
First change that needs to be done is the behavior of the staff. The waiting period for everything is their fault.Even if there are PK/RP rewards that you mentioned the waiting period will be a killer again.
But waiting 100 hours on an app won't be bad if I spend 95 of them "questing" to provide a shelter for the homeless. Or a Dark Magic Tower to fuel my disgusting expirements. Or slave pits to keep my merchandise til I go to the block.
Irpel, the only doll I ever played with, earned that house. I would say the same for all the "Heroes" who also had houses built. Given its from a different time, but useless? These are great places to hide and train, spar, or RP with that special someone.
It is rewards like this that stand the test of time in Aabahranian History that keep some of us returning. Some of us seek to make a lasting impact, to mark our own spot in the History of this world we love. The thought that Irpel's house is useless is as offensive to me as suggesting we change the names of the streets in Val Miran to no longer honor the Noble queens who once governed them.
And NO I was not Irpel, but his RP is the reason I left the heavens elsewhere and came to live on the surface here. And thats a fact.
