Guest emp_newb
This game was a large part of my cure boredom when I toted a laptop around. It is probably the most in depth game I have ever seen really http://www.adom.de/adom/download.php3 it is extremely complicated, and I have never made it over level 45 nor been close to beating the game. Guest emp_newb
you play text based games, asshats, all of you. It is a bit complicated, but once you learn the basics, it is so sweet, there is one cave, 99 levels deep, each time you go up or down, it is randomly generated. So it is never stale

Guest emp_newb
apparently you all got outsmarted by helpfiles > Down < up i What you are wearing I what you are holding shift+esc cast spell r read d drink numpad to walk t to talk to target(move the cursor around if you have more than one person around you) That should get you quite a ways into the game. The Lemming
Is there a list of all the commands? I am having a terrible time getting things and I cant seem to get into the towns even when useing >
Tom
'?' brings up the helpfile, and then 'k' lists the commands. Kick doors from a diagonal, and never kill a cat.
Guest emp_newb
Never hit a karmic anything in melee if you can help it. Also some hints: Trolls need ASSLOADS of food. Stock up. the f1-f7 keys change your combat settings, you can lose melee offense, for melee defense(great for casters) You can wear TWO shields at once(another big caster thing) Try to raise your skills evenly. Bl3h
Where can I get some cheap food? Made a human archer and I'm hungry like every 2 minutes.
Tom
Once you complete the carpentry or evil sage quest, you'll be sent to a cave system on the west side of the world. Eventually you'll come to a level which contains an arena, and there you can buy all the food you want from chars, NOT shops (so it's unlimited). If you succeed in getting the healer in the cave from the village elder's quest to heal the carpenter, then the food salesman in the first town will lower his prices for you. Capital T also opens tactics settings, then you can use + and - to scroll through them and find a good balance for you.
Bl3h
How do I get quests?
Guest emp_newb
talk to random people in towns, I recomend passing the first town you see, then going north and west a bit to the cave on the mountain edge, level to seven or eight there (it goes really fast) Then start questing, as you can get involved in stuff you should NOT be involved in hehe. Tom
If you do that you miss out on the Kranach the Raider Lord quest, which is only valid until you're level 6, but can usually only be completed if you're a relatively healthy melee.
Bl3h
Is there any way to save my character?
Tom
Shift-S will save and close out the game. Again, if you type ? and then k all keybinding questions will be answered.
Bl3h
But it's easier this way . And I'm pretty sure that ? and K won't tell me where that Keethrax guy is, I went looking in his cave and couldnt find him anywhere.

Aulian
i was playing.. and now it wont open.. At all. Comes up in a flash then disapears...
Tom
You closed it improperly. You'll have to delete a data file with the name of whatever character you were last playing. Always quit with S(quit with save) or Q(Quit and delete character) or it'll go wonky the next time you start. If you can't figure out which it is, start the game from a DOS window; the flash that you see is telling you which data file is interfering. Opening in DOS will make it stay up so you can see what is interfering
