Jester
Which has higher magical resistance? Should both be played as melee, seeing as halfings have 17 int ?
snoreal
I thought int only affects on mana gain..
Guest Valganti
I thought int only affects on mana gain.. * Intelligence determines how much you can learn with one practice, how quickly your learn skills from their use, as well as how much mana you gain per level. High intelligence grants bonus to resist mental spells.
Jester
I thought int only affects on mana gain.. the point is they will have lower mana, then say an... elf. lower strength than a giant/dwarf higher magic resists and higher ac bonus... dwarf will have huge hp/strength, but low ac/mana due to low int/wis and dex. they make pretty sturdy melee clerics... just wandering if halflings will do as well as melee. corpsestomp
Will the right religion, any cleric will do well in melee. But for the most part, the dwarf will do better than the halfling. More strength, much higher con and a decent dex(along with all the protective spells).

Raargant
Decent dex? Dwarf? Halfling has fully 7 more points of dext, I believe, than dwarves.
archgold
yea dwarf dex isn't really anything to talk about....maybe you meant duergar cleric but that would be sort of off topic

Gah, I was thinking they had 20 dex, nevermind me, I guess. On another note, I play my clerics more like mages with enhanced damage and shield block, I'm not one to talk about str/con. Hegemon
I, however, am. I played my Clerics (Drow) as melees, and it was just fine. The lower str won't matter so much, really. Being decked with a suitable weapon will, however. Depending on Religion and Cabal, you'll be getting more damage above that. What really kills you is only having two attacks no blind fighting and "poor" weapon choices, though whips and flails aren't so bad at all, in my opinion. I say go all out hit/dam, you've got all those nice prayers to handle sanc/healing/protections/blessing/frenzy and so on and so forth. I've toyed with the idea of playing a Fire Giant cleric, but honestly I can't really get over the low int/wis and mana. It'd be cool I'd imagine, but I like my Drow.... Ex-D&Der
I think they both have the same magical resistance, but a halfling cleric I would think would be harder to melee with because of the low strength. On the other hand their dex is awesome so they don't get hit much. For a mage killer it would seem you would have an advantage with the dwarf, although you have that water vuln. That will also hurt you against melees, whereas the bashing vuln is negated with protective shield for a halfling.
Marc
Also a good tactic for a cleric is to lead your melee opponent over water so you can't be dirt kicked. This will not be good for a dwarf. My combat dwarf cleric had about 950hp/1100mana without eq at 50, I understand a halfling cleric would have a lot less than that for both hp and mana. As far as hp goes, yea they'd have considerably less. (stock)
