FL Voice Acting

I propose compiling a list of voices for major mobs.

It would work like this: All .wav/.mp3 files are compiled in a file which is an optional download for FL players.

Then, a standardized trigger package is coded and distributed to the players so that their mud client calls up the .wav files from their hard-drive instead of from the server.

This way, some life can be brought to the game in a way that is a.)easily modifiable. b.)does not contribute to lag. and c.) is easily accessable but also easily turned off or on.

What do you think?

A city guard yells "The execution begins in 6 hours at the center square!"

(computer speakers): "All hail Tribunal! Come to center square to witness the execution of the scurvy dog! (Crowd roars).

You enter the realm of the puppet-master.

(computer speakers) "Wahahaha! Dance for me, my children. Dance!.... (low gurgle) Intruders! Kill them! Protect me!"

You hear a death cry.

(Computer speakers) "Arrrrrrrgghhhhhhhh!"

All about it. I'll record all of it.

Heh, I already do this, my computer says, "run dumb a$$" when my health drops too low, and "pick up your weapon dumb a$$" when I get disarmed. ect. but it DOES lag me. Absolutely DOES.

Would be pretty cool if someone could actually record them. Most clients support sound which can be sent by the game itself.

Thumbs up, for sure.

I'll take care of fire giant roars.

I'll take care of fire giant roars.

Hahahahah. I am all up for you doing that, cause man, you wouldn't want Mya taking care of that ROAR!!!

Whenever someone communes just zoom in on Mya narrowing her eyes.

Don't know if anyone else is taking this idea seriously, but I am :-)

Please post here with any one-liners you would like recorded and I will send them in. If you PM me your email, I'll email you a copy as well. I've already made a couple worthless ones just to get the audio quality right and I think I've reached it. Now just trying to come up with some viable scripts that would apply :-)

I'd like a greeting for each town...maybe a quest prompt or two? The Dragon Slayer quest line would be neat. Maybe something from the Town Crier? Anyhow...

As long as I can turn it off, at all times.

Just a heads up for any of you recording WAVs. Zrothum sent me a few samples and I messed around with having the MUD trigger them. I got sounds to play, but was just getting windows beeps (I use MUSHclient). After a bit of investigation I found this thread:

http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?bbsubject_id=783

I suggest you convert the files to:

•16-bit

•22.05 KHz

•PCM (ie. uncompressed)

•Mono or Stereo

I believe "sound recorder" utility may be able to open your file, and then you can re-save in that format. Failing that, try Audacity:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net

This is a free program that opens many different formats, and exports a .wav file in a format that should be readable.

Not sure how it is with other MUD clients, but it appears MUSHclient can't handle all wav encoding formats, so it is something to keep in mind. I'll let you guys know what I find out after researching MSP a bit more.

Just a quick update, this actually isn't hard to do from the MUD-side. I have it working with the samples Zrothum sent me.

I've had the "Your Hungry!" trigger for ever now, it's almost as important as the rolling triggers.

I'm working on some helpful ones for the newb school...I'd like to bring in some RP ones for the FL history that many people don't get in the mud school. Open to any and all ideas.

the tolling of bells in rheydin...o any other place that has global events at specific times..

Most generic and environmental ones can be accomplished with generic wav files. Like rain and thunder as well. Looking more for speech parts. Guards greeting you, guildmaster questioning you, Dragonslayer asking for your assistance...

This should be used for many events things, not one time things like quests or dragon slayer. But that is just my opinion.

Thunder, bells, guards, battlesounds.

I don't know how you goign to make mud order my Zmud to play those files, but remeber to code in an switch to turn this off, like BRIEF or QUIET.

I already have Zmud speak to me. Warning me when really important things happen. Like Disarm, Protective shield Down, Sanctuary. Poison, curse, plague landed.

Ray Blind Land.

For escaping low HP I use Wimpy. F0xx.

This is the website I use to make my Audio files:

Just save to wave to your PC.

Or "POWER WORD KILL".

Personally

I think this would be epic. And I have a feeling it will come to fruition.

edit: shibby!

Autosound prolly will be a command. Turned OFF by default because not all clients will support it. I will do wave files for multiple scenarios like those Mya...
