ladyoki
Is it ok for Sacred Oak clan members to hunt in Emerald Forest?
corpsestomp
It's up to your character's RP. If your character wouldn't kill foresty-type creatures, then don't, if they might, then go ahead. I'd see what Roykagh has to say as well.
Tantangel
As far as I know, they're not to be hunted because they're helpful creatures of the forest. Fire Giant loggers in Elium are bad though because they're tearing down the forest. Demons and such are bad because they're unnatural and harm the planet. Elium is fine to hunt in as far as I've seen, but past characters that were in Sacred Oak were forbidden to hunt in Emerald explicitly.
Evangelion
I once got demoted by Eshaine for killing Emerald Forest creatures as a Sacred Oak member. And I was only an Inductee, so I'll leave what happened to your imagination.
Pali
I had a Sacred Oak guy who rationalized it as continuing the circle of life... when nymphs, dryads, or rangers die (as they inevitably will... all living beings die eventually, I'm just speeding it up a little), their bodies turn into compost and are used by the trees to grow. Never got confronted by an IMM about it, so I don't know if the rationalization would've been accepted, but that was his position on it.
Kyzarius
In this case its not your own views but the views of others you need to consider. For example on my past ninja, Adauchi, I assaulted two oak members for doing just that. Yeah you might work it out in your mind, but others most likely will find it offensive in their own RPish way. Honestly though, its a pretty big stretch in my opinion to justify it. Heck I have had watchers jump me for attacking Aruncus, and here you would be slaying brownies! little innocent brownies!!! bastard! Pali's concept is good imho, but even its a stretch...and someone could easily disagree and bring down some hate on him for killing them slutty nymphs. In the end your character is just that, yours. Though dont be suprised (as I am sure you wouldnt be to much by the fact that your asking) when some extremist comes to bitch-slap you for killing his acorn's cousin. f0xx
You can also see it as a food chain. You kill brownies and you become stronger, like lions kill whatever they kill to feed themselves. Just the cycle of nature.
random_clown
It could never be said that killing isn't part of nature. I think its more of a pacifist than a naturalist point of view to just abstain from killing. Now, as a naturalist, you'd at least better be killing for food, and not just leaving corpses everywhere to rot. So, a ranger or druid killing animals and using them for food? I find that perfectly acceptable. Though then I suppose you might get into a moral dilemma about killing a sentient creature for food. But as soon as you look at that, ya might just have to take stock of how most characters, in a strict sense, are just rampant murderers. What did Farmer Griff ever do to you? Tantangel
Don't think the whole food thing would work though being you're in Emerald Forest where there's a store that sells food, you might end up getting swatted like a fly. Why hunt in Emerald anyways as a neutral? There's enough goods/neutrals anymore you can easily rank up in a group in either Elium or the Tombs and then later hunt with the evils in either the Caverns or the Labrynth or however. To top it off hunting with Goods gives you more of a fleshing out because you're ridding the world of Vampires/Demons for Nature to breathe more easily, while hunting with Evils you're basically helping the very evil spread into Nature and set its roots even further than before. Yeah, it's up to Roykagh on what he thinks is right/wrong for the RP of a Sacred Oak member but I know in the past Emerald Forest was strictly forbidden to hunt in, and I turned down more parties than I could remember on Sacred Oak characters specifically because they wished to hunt in that area. Usually I'd be able to deter some group members to hunt Vampires with me which ended up benefiting all because we all got the group we wanted and to top it off we didn't hunt in an area forbidden to be hunted in. Mmm Coffee
Just don't do it If you're a neutral there are a half-dozen places to rank into the 30's w/o going to Emerald.
Pali
The very simple rule that it comes down to in the end... if you want to do it, do it, if you don't, don't, just be prepared to accept the consequences of your actions whatever they are. Implementor Anume Posted July 26, 2007 Implementor Report Share Posted July 26, 2007 I've always told Oak when I Immed Watcher that killing for food (eg ONE forest creature) was OK but not killing for fun/training. And it's usually No on killing in Emerald, ask Roykagh ic with your oaky to make sure of his position.
Kinicky
In my opinion, the best way to find out is to go hunt them all, and when you see Roykagh on, announce over the clan channel that you are hunting in Emerald, and see what happens. Just my opinion.
Tantangel
You clan chat 'I'm hunting in Emerald, wish to join me?' You have been demoted within your clan. You have been demoted within your clan. Roykagh clan chats 'I hate you and your pet Fire Giant Loggers too!'
spiegel06
Well I know as a general rule, if you are a member of oak, not to hunt there. And expect if your clan E or L see you doing this to be questioned and maybe depending on who it is they might deal with you accordingly. But from my experience with Roykagh I know he would be pretty upset about that. But most importantly make sure you have a good RP behind you doing that.
