Overloading the mana shield?

Heh, I've done this before I'm pretty sure. The assassinate still works. There isn't actually any 'damage' thats outputted from the code source if the assassinate its succeeds, it just buffers out a message and does raw kill (ie like slay), so it makes sense.

dispel is more to scare than for damage...although the damage is very nice too

people usually react by fleeing

and of course, standard things like trying to find eq to poison, missile shield and so forth

If you can use it right, you can get the dispel out and some big damage before they flee. Also if you keep dispelling non-sancing classes, they will keep using up all their sanc items, not to mention have to lag themselves to resanc, which means if you get another dispel off, they have that wee bit of lag before they can flee.

Makes sense that a magical weapon assassination attempt shouldn't work against a mana shielded invoker.

Logs showing the assassinated invoker's affects would be useful though. It's hard to believe that an invoker had mana shield up when you attempted the assassination.
