+++ASSASSINATE+++ stories

Call me crazy, but yesterday, I got assassinated for the first time (I think) since TETSUNAI/VANICUS assassinated an ogre warrior of mine. And I loved it! (major props to the character who did it). My jaw dropped but I was like "WHOA. Nice!"

I never saw the character on until seconds before my demise. I saw him and tried chasing him for an easy PK then BAM! I had nothing but praise for the ninja. I never stayed camped in town either so he did a very good job stalking me.

My only other memorable assassination-death was as I said from Tetsunai or Vanicus. He was stalking a bounty and I was trying to apprehend him. He kept chatting with me asking me to leave him alone but I kept at it unfortunately.

The skill is one of the hardest to do- at least against veteran players. It's classier IMO than a bash/trip lock or similar strategies. I'd gladly die to a painless assassination than get seremoned and pathed to death.

I've played 3 ninjas to pinn and I have at least 100 assassinations between them but very rarely am I able to assassinate a known veteran character.

Any good assassination stories?

I've got a decent one.

I was stalking a human Knight paladin by the name of Alanthen. Now, anyone who played at the time knows that this guy was very rarely seen without his counterpart, an elf invoker Savant named Mestaria. Well, my character Pheredin hated both of them with a passion. He had assassinated Alanthen several times, and Mestaria had sworn to kill me no matter the cost.

Well, one day I discovered their secret hiding place - the Music Box House or whatever it's called (Irpel's Area). Upon this discovery, I studied Alanthen from my hiding place, and got the study to full. However, he and Mestaria had moved, along with a Kaganka (stone giant warrior) and Cjuk (ogre warrior) out by the treants in Drkshtyre. Knowing this, I quaffed a vial, ate a venom sack, and went in for the kill.

Now it's important to note that Pheredin was in Syndicate at the time, and I was legitimately after Alanthen's bounty. So I crept in, and hit the assassinate. I was rewarded with success!... or so I thought.

It was not until after I had been double bash-locked by two giant-sized warriors, and hellstreamed to Nercuros and back that I realized... I had only mercied the paladin, not killed him.

I still count it as an assassination, because I was all but successful, however, it is still a story that sticks out in my mind.

This really makes me want to have my return character be a ninja.

I had a log awhile ago, of my watcher ninja, Osroth fighting Chrintion, dwarf justice blademaster, he was predicting assassinate, so I strangled him, then assassinated him. Being the good sport he is, he got a set of eq, attacked my cabal. I get a full study on him running away from him, try to strangle to get an assassinate in, hes predicting that now and nearly one rounds me. I flee, lick my wounds, finish the study. I find him again, push his guard away, he chases me out of the watch tower, and I stand at western commons spamming assassinate, he walks in, and got him. Was a good time.

I'd say my favorite assassination was once when Galadran (way back in 1.0) was hunting Old Man's drow shaman Miruvhor Royal (forgetting the name, started with a . I'd made one attempt that got blocked by his Royal Guard, and after that he kept hanging out in the Miruvhor palace. His being a drow and being deep in the palace made it so that I couldn't study him, so I let an elf battlemage Savant named Allicain know where he was. Allicain came and engaged the palace guard, drawing out OM, and I spent the next half hour following the fight around Miruvhor working on the study and doing my best not to be seen. To OM's credit, he was winning the fight against a decked cabaled char (this was before shamans got +mal level to their casts and I'm CERTAIN that Allicain had at least -75mal combined) when his eq, while not being bad, did not compare. After a while I finally managed to pull the study, and when he came out of the palace once more to engage Allicain after a rest period I took him down. Immediately afterwards, he sent me a single tell: "Very impressive... I thought you had left the lands days ago."

I knew I was going to my death, because of the bash and charge that Cormin should have made. However, I did it for RP reasons, and it was a good time.

I think my favorite assassination story was the one I got against Ellowyn... this was back in the Hunter days when Tetsunai didnt want to take her bounty because he was undead at the time... so I was the only who volunteered. Lucky for me she didnt notice me stalking her since I would pop in and out... and she was also in the middle of talking with someone. By the time she realized I was stalking her.. I already got a large amount of study... she attacked but I took off. She chased me to Rheydin where I finally had a chance to finish my study. She walked in and bam! Dusted! She got me back later though....sevral times, but all I needed was that one time.

My close second favorite was assassinating the 3 elders of Savant: Allicain, Asniar, and I cant remember the third.

Ellowyn WAS the third, Iconz. And feel special... outside of Kentry, Vespazien took Asniar down more than anyone else.

And actually, I'd have to say that tied with the one above, my favorite assassination was taking out Clariana while she was mortal again for a while (after she'd already been an IMM). Saw her on and I spent an hour searching through the mud for her.

Hey man, I still give you props for the well-done revenge kills. Outside of Tet, you were the only ninja I worried about, and you were also the only one ever to take Asniar down.

Actually.. Two times I was assassinated and both times my heart stopped for a fiew beats. As most of you have mentioned it is very hard to assassinate a vet. Expecially if we sense a ninja is about, even if I cannot sense someone on the who list I am very very careful.

Now, there was once when I was being foolish and attacking the Warmasters halls back when I was testing how long it would take to kill it before I joined savant. The entire time i am checking the who list.. over and over again like a bad habbit. However, some how I got caught up with the Titan and.. BAM! ASSASSINATED!.. I was like "WHAT THE F*** was that?.. cursing at my computer trying to figure out how the hell that happend.. Blasted Drow Syndicate D something..

I realized he had got a little study in, left the lands, returned with some more study, left the lands again and returned to finish me off.. Very very clever.

Another time I was a fool sitting in the Tower browsing some items checking the who list every now and then noticing there was someone hidden, not even realizing a ninja was outside studying me the whole time.. so when I decided to leave and goto some water to sit and wait them out.. THE SECOND i LEFT THE TOWER I WAS STRANGLED! I was absolutely shocked.. I was like.. "ok.. it is not a thief.. it must be a ninja.. hrm.. did it get a study.. nah no way I wasnt even around town or anywhere to be study'd" Then... yes.. ASSASSINATED! I think I crapped my pants.. because I just spent about.. two hours fighting the horrified Fraction alone for the radiance.. Then just lost it from the ninja.. Imagin how pissed you would be.

I've been assassinated three times whilst I've been here. The most recent, and most embarassing, was by Balinor's Human Ninja Pheredin as Wymsicant, my Demon Cleric.

I don't have a log, but the whole thing went a little bit like this (and I actually kick myself for the stupidity):

You broadcast "Yes."

Pheredin tells you "Come to Tarandue."

So, I go to Tarandue. Nobody there.

You broadcast "Where are you?"

Pheredin tells you "I'm coming from , just wait there."

Silly me didn't think at the time to check who and realise that he can't have been moving, as he was hidden.

So I wait.

And I wait.

And I wait.

And then he hits me. Turns out he had been in Tarandue the whole time studying me.

My two favorite assassinations I have done were when I had Inju Baneja my evil feral ninja syndicate. The first one was against Elloran the elf battlemage elder sigil knight you all probably heard of. I purposely stayed out of hiding in rheydin and had him try and chase me while I was studying his elf but(which was so hard to do) Finally I got off enough insight and I ran to miruvhor and then under the sewers to burn it. Somehow he was right there on my tail and I had just burned all the info in. He attacked me and quite frankly almost killed me, if it wasn't for my 8+ gyvels I usually always carry I wouldn't have been able to see him being blind. However I fled and cured it, said screw the strangle and just kept spamming *** Elloran... he walked in and by the good graces of my feralness(or something) I popped him fully spelled up and sanced.

The other one was to this Undead savant whos name escapes me not akanta but someone else, I think it was a cleric... anyways they thought they were all cool chillin in the savant cabal but I guess they moved around for like two-three tics and that was enough for me. I burned the info and attacked the cabal, he came out and BLAMO.

I remember as Girnibac there was this drow ninja Grayden(or something like that) that would land them so easily on me. Didn't even bother to strangle, just walks in and BAM! Annoyed the hell out of me. Damn good ninja.

I have only ever been assassinated by Vanicus I believe and it was like 3 times with various characters. Remember him attacking the Hope clan after I'd left Savant Cabal a couple months prior, so I went out and turned him. After that if I came in, he fled and then I believe he strangled me just south two squares of the guard. I woke up and ran out into the forest and sat there for a while. Then I hear that he was attacking again. So I run back in poisoned so he couldn't strangle and I'm trying to turn undead so I could nail him in the room. Then I hit it, but no one was there since he just moved a room away, still lagged from it, he comes back in and nails the assassinate.

And Dey, I can't believe you fell for that, I never trust a rogue. If they want to give me something, they're dropping it off in a secure nohide area where I can easily go grab it while they're long gone from the area otherwise there's no way in hell I'm risking them to study/assassinate me. I expect it if I'm fighting them head on though, if I'm not I'm stupid for not thinking they will.

I wouldn't have normally, but I messed up. Pheredin and Wymsicant had above-neutral relationship with each other so I wasn't truly suspecting of anything (even though I should have been, and I will never fully trust anybody again)... however it turned out that Pheredin saught entry to Syndicate, so he was tasked by the Syndicate Leader at the time to assassinate certain people, Wymsicant being one of them.

Clever on his behalf, and it taught me a valuable lesson.
