English lad
Personal tip, something I'm trying to do after more level 30 ish deletes than you can imagine, Is not to think about race/class combo, but to come up with a cool RP angle that I REALLY want to play. Then I fit a race/class combo to it.
Tantangel
If you're going Savant, take into account who your opponents are going to be. At the moment there's like one semi-active Savant (Cylandas or however), and then it'd be you if you make it. WM has about 3-5 active that are apparently pretty strong (I've only really seen Senrail in action and yeah. Ouch.) If it's your first Cleric or even first Storm Cleric, I'd suggest joining an already strong Cabal. Tribunal at the moment seems like the stronger Cabal, and Knights coming in a close second. If you join an already strong Cabal it helps you out in learning what all to do to better prepare you for other Cabals if you decide to play the same race/class in the future. Unless you just want to jump into things and have at it the hard way of course like I tend to usually do.

Balinor
Suggestion: DO NOT ROLL CHARACTERS FOR A CABAL! There are several reasons for this. 1) You will likely get discouraged if you see numerous members of your intended cabal's enemy cabal out and about. 2) If you fail to get into your cabal, you will likely lose interest in the character. 3) You can always choose a path later, but it's harder to change your path once you've chosen it. Roll a character that you can get into in every single way. From their description to their RP and back again. You want to be able to get into a character? Think of an idea, write a description according to it, and go with the flow. Let the game take your character places, don't just drill him down the path to Syndicate, Tribunal, Nexus, Savant, Knight, etc.
Nympha
I have to disagree with your post Balinor, for the sole reason I have done that. And I did not, nor could I probably get into any cabal. Where as any character I rolled and put my mind to getting into a cabal. I got it. I worked my tail end off proving myself and I eventually got it. If your RP is stricktly set with the Cabal you want to get into, you follow the guidlines, treat those who are in higher rank than you with respect, generally you will get in. Fail to do some of these things can make it quite a bit harder on you.
English lad
I'd have to say your right, but I think what Balinor says is more the way I would like to see things. Right now people who are 'in the know' will design a character with Elder in Cabal in mind, and will do and say the right things, have the right RP etc... Causing the same people to get the best roles over and over again. Personnally I'd like to see things more in the style Balinor ( and myself earlier) said...choose your RP, then build your character around it, develop them as a complete character.. not just the required 'shell' character until they get the Cabal/Rank you had in mind when you rolled them.
