I gots a problem

Here it is: I'm way too scared to attack anyone at 50. I'm getting a thief up that I'll have no problem with, but I rarely play my other 50 becuase of this problem, and it's boring just sitting around. The RP is great, but...it's still a problem. Maybe I should just suck it up and go attack Pominsu or Martineius. It'd probably be suicide, but hey, it'd be interesting, right?

Pick out someone 'easier' to jump. Doesn't have to be someone you know, just pick someone of your who PK. Set yourself some escape options and go for them.

Once you've killed them, pick someone else of who PK and jump them.

Chances are, when you're good enough you won't have to find the tough guys to jump. They'll find you :-D

I highly recommend you not going after the hardest targets, simply because you don't learn anything from getting two or three rounded. Find someone nearer your skill level, and engage in constant battles with them. Once you feel you can beat them regularly, switch to someone else.

My problem is, unless I am in a cabal, I hate being pk'ed. It is depressing for me, so I think about the other person playing at the other end, and I dont want to depress them! So I rarely attack people. Just now starting to try and get into the mindset of not being so....nice.

Play an evil. Kill goods. Play a good. Kill evils. You've got preset targets.

No, no, no. I totally sympathize with Nympha. It's not that you don't know who your targets are. It's that you know that behind the characters, good or evil, are players, and you don't want to stress them out. :P

If you are scared of PK, don't make a class that is designed to stay out of it more than others. IE: clerics, healers, and bards. Pick something that WILL teach you how to pk more than anything else. I first learned to PK on an ogre zerk. No running and camoing/hiding, no teleport, recall, or gate spells. Though you get potions, I refrain from using them alot, I figure if I can't get away by running, then I am clearly not good enough at it and need the practice. Its a more 'in your face' style of learning, but you learn FAST.

I remember back in the day, I used to get SOOOOO pissed when I died. Lots of rage delets (I had TDP syndrome pretty hardcore)

I also found it was hard to kill someone, because I knew how I felt... I was just too damn nice to kill someone. Now I die and I don't care, I re-eq and go to kill them. And I sure as hell don't care about killing someone else or full-looting.

You'll get over it, just go out there and kick some arse!

When I condie with a char, I usually stop playing the game for two or three weeks out of bitterness.

When my char dies in a ****ty way, IE a vamp wannabe fireballs your healer to death while you are trying to sanc your group mates and have no mana...

I get PISSED...but when someone my same rank, rps...attacks...and does what I consider is necessary for a GOOD pk, I just go resuit.

From one perspective, he's poured out his mana to help his groupmates (who are outside the wanna-be's pk range), only to have that situation taken advantage of by someone just to become a vampire. Not necessarily crappy from a "trashy PK" standpoint, but crappy for the healer nonetheless.

I would say learn to pk with a very survivable class first. It'll help to build some confidence. Theres nothing quite as discouraging as getting owned on a regular basis. So until you learn how to get some decent eq, stick to something like clerics, shaman or paladins, something with both sanc and good healing.

Once you learn some things about eqing, try out more of a melee class, I'd recommend a class that can hide from the majority of the population..thief, ninja, ranger. All somewhat eq dependant, but not nearly as much as the classes that can't hide.

The first few characters of mine that held their own, and I learned alot with fell within those groups. Maybe someone else has some recommendations though?
