Should America be in Iraq

Yeah, that was in 1994. There was a completely different reason for invading.

Comparing that to now is like telling someone that all popcicles are made with piss, and offering them a popcicle... then 8 years later, telling them you've also got grape and offering 'em one (and calling them a piss-eater because they accepted it).

The question really should not be "Should America be in Iraq?". We need to be more intent on developing a correct manner in which to remove our troops from the war front and allow the new Iraq government to control the situation. If Iraq wants to be free of a maniacal tyrant, they have to accept the responsibilities of filling the power vacuum Hussein's seat left. The US is not the world police. And even then, America continues to send millions of dollars to poverty-stricken countries.

Right now, Europe is at the top of my hate list. Europe continues to blame America for the problems of the earth, and shout that the world is better without us. Unfortunately for them, Europe would be nothing without the U.S. I say, "Go lick my eyebrow you stuckup french twits."

I am sick and tired of people blaming the U.S. for the world's problems and when asked to back it up, they point a finger at Bush. The man is a numbskull. Agreed. However, at least the U.S. is not sitting on parisian fabrics, drinking french vino out of the bottle. Bush should not have tried to appease the 'political correctness' of our society, and instead have appeased them with the magnum guns at his side. Now even I have to say that Bush made the mistakes of an idiot.

But let us all remember folks...despite all his stupidity, Bush did not sell secret weapons and technology to the chinese.

If that is what Europe claims, then I agree.

I however am not going to point the finger at Bush. He's not the problem at all; the "problem" was there long before he was inaugurated and will be there long after he's out of office too. He's only one man and I genuinely think he thought he was doing what was right (which I think was 100% wrong front-to-back from the beginning). He was backed by a lot of people, but as soon as the whole situation overseas was iffy, his supporters left him high and dry to get dragged through the mud, typical of politicians. He's a martyr ironically for himself. I used to hate Bush, now I pity him. He's just one more idiot in a world full of them.

When I say I agree with what "Europe claims," I'm not talking about America, the land of Sunday night barbeques with the family and going fishing with Pops, I'm talking about the corporate god-giants and their lobbyist underlings. The oil companies, the FDA and drug industries, the people and media that turn a blind eye to it all, etc etc etc. Fair Market > Free Market. What people define America as is completely dependent on their perspective. Tomato/tomahto, potato/potahto.

I'm a nationalist. America for Americans, Ireland for the Irish, Iraq for Iraqis. Iraq's problems are the concern of Iraq, and the same goes for any other country. I don't care about other nations' problems, however they choose to conduct themselves or however amazingly well they prosper or however terribly they fail is perfectly fine with me either way.

I think its the Christian notion that the strong and rich have an obligation to help the weak and poor paired with the Christian notion that you must spread your doctrine by word as well as sword if neccessary was the subconscious justification of Vietnam, the Gulf War, the War in Iraq, and any foreign-relief undertakings. It is the central ideal of American foreign policy and has been since FDR. That self-perception and idealization of a national Christly, Knightly, Chivalric existence juxtopposed to the fact that corporations are rotting people and land alike from the inside out while that the government allows it to happen is the holier-than-thou hypocrisy that sickens people/other countries. It's like an alpha male mating with whatever it desires, all the while it has no idea that it is actually diseased and is infecting everything it touches.

The only reason we were in Iraq is because we were misled as to what actually happened on 9/11. We could all speculate as to why we believe we went in there originally, it sure wasn't WMDs. Notice how they make NO mention of that in any type of press conference anymore. And what Dick said in that video still holds true to this day, it is a quagmire and once we leave Iraq there will be so many sovereign nations springing up that our heads will spin. You think that it is a hotbed for terrorist activity right now? Just imagine what will happen when we leave, and we did it all ourselves.

Stupid americans! ;)

No, kidding. To the most extent at least.

First, Europe is not a country or a nation. I think you guys know that, but from some posts it seems you don't. Things look very much different from one European nation to another.

Second, well, blaming you for the worlds problems might have something to do with USA using more fuel, letting out more carbon dioxide and other waste per person than any other country except the poor ones, and you generally screwing up the environment. You guys even refused the Kyoto pact. You "taking action"? Can't see it. Yes, the US is ruining our planet. Thank you very much. Not only your part of it, the WHOLE planet.

It could have to do with huge american companies like Nike, Coca Cola and McDonalds, and most, all the tobacco companies, exploiting the 3rd world and keeping people more or less as slaves.

easy to say homeslice but everyones foreign policy pretty much sucks these days. I dare you to give me one example in the last ten years of a EU or other first world nation did something that really helped/focused on the environment. And the whole huge american companies crap? Thats bs, yes they use cheap labor buttttttttttttttttttttt.... where would these people be working? I know that back in the day there were quite a few scandals involving Coca Cola and other corporations, but nowadays they don't pull stupid **** like that. You sound like every stereotypical european/college liberal/teenager I've ever met, no offense.
