Horse crap. If I took a loot full of pinned goodies' date=' and imms made my pk range to 50, I would. Hide? Sorry, but at pinn a smart/good thief is gonna have the same stuff, and can get it the same way.[/quote']

level restriction on rares (again)

My punctuation is no less flawed than Mya's logic. So if you wanna rag on me, you better start ragging on Mya too you love sick bulgarian.
I would also like to point out that this is a game mechanic that has been in the game for ages. Thiefs can loot any corpse without the timer, a warrior can loot a corpse after two tics. What happened here is someone lost gear to a thief, and is pissed about it. So instead of admitting the screwed the pooch, and the loss of gear was caused by them, they bring it to the forums as something that is "broke".
If your a pinn, and you die, and someone else gets your stuff? You should have gotten back to your corpse. There are not many places a pinn can die while lowbies have access to your corpse. If you died in one of these places you need to move faster, or fight smarter, or prep better. Blaming your loss of gear on a 10+ year old mechanic is a cop out really. Every one of us has taken a lowbie thief looting. I played an undead BLM ages ago, I was killed by someone, and a mid 20 warrior ended up with all my armor. An epic find for anyone really. But that was not the warrior's fault. He advanced himself where he was able to. The imms should not have even considered raising his pk range to that of a 50.
Oh I do not want to step in this. It stinks. However, just as there are "codes of conduct" in our PK ventures, there likewise should be a similar code for game play in general. If you are not a newb, then you know that the Fire Lance is beyond your aquisition at a level such as 20, and quite frankly, since your not a newb you should have a better ethic than to call it an Epic find. Looting the corpse of a creature or player you did not kill, is in my opinion, in bad form. Not pointing any fingers here at all, I was new once, and held myself to a lower standard of play. Sooner or later each of us decides to step up their game, all around. You will find that in Aabahran, dedication and sacrifice, have greater dividends than shortcuts and poor behavioral habbits.
This is beyond an old game mechanic. The original version was that everyone could loot above lvl 15 at any time.
You are roleplaying a THIEF. You see some awesome stuff and it's free for the taking, why wouldn't you grab it? Sure, you can't kill the mob that hold it, but you don't have to. I can think of plenty of thief/rogue opportunities for equipment at low levels (beyond looting corpses). It's really one of the perks of the class type, and was always meant to be exactly that.
As for people sitting DECKED at any lowbie level:
-
When you sit at 30 for multiple RL weeks (100-200 hours of gameplay sometimes) waiting for judgement, you better believe you'll end up decked if you're a skilled player. Hell, you don't even have to be an active pker and you'll end up that way through random finds (many mid to high-end rares are considered low levels and can be found with locate object at 30), people coming to kill you with 1 or 2 nice things, etc.
-
If you're at 30, it means someone else at 32-34 can kill you quickly. You don't want to have decked 30s sitting around? Roll up a low exp pen class and sit at 33, roleplaying someone who wants to find valuable armors and weapons in order to sacrifice them to Lytholm. Don't keep a single mid to high-end rare you find, and then you can tout moral superiority.
Eh, never had a problem with thieves. If a thief is following you around, find a place they WON'T follow the battle to. There are several locations where a lowbie at 30 > will find it very hard to keep up with a battle while several mobs are eating him for breakfast. ![]()
If you get looted by a thief.. it's your own fault.

contrary to your ego and all knowingness that's not the case. I havent logged in since philantees steam rolled me. I watched a lvl 50 ogre zerk get collected by some cleric then lvl 20somethign thief grabs everything the can fit in his hands and runs off. I didn't screw any pooch and your ego is really starting to get the best of you. I saw a problem and i brought it up. If it pisses you off so much that your low lvl thiefs can't exploit a mechanic that exists for NO reason than thats a personal problem. There is 0 reason why a lvl 15+ thief should be able to loot a lvl 50 corpse. NO REASON. If i had a quarter for every time i saw someone cut a corner or expoit a game mechanic in this game i'd be a millionare. I really wish people would just let it go. One day, and if Zhokril has anything to do with it im sure that day will be soon, you will run out of things to exploit and most likely quit because you don't have that unfair edge that you once had. You'll scream "gimp" and quit, i've seen it 100 times before in other games people who defend shady behavior and exploitable mechanics are just not good for any game.

Yes there is. It's a RP reason. It's why thieves are thieves.
As an OOC reason for why I like to keep it: When I was in my second year here, I tried a thief. Saw a level 50 die and I was around 20 or so. Grabbed EVERYTHING from his corpse. Saw some really cool shinies I'd never seen before. Kept me going when I was ready to quit.
I'm sorry, Sandbox. I understand some people would like to take revenge on said thief, but most of them can't even detect hidden. Even if their PK range became unrestricted, most characters wouldn't even be able to do anything to a smart thief.

if it was up to me i'd get rid of rares all together, balance every class around non-rare gear and take the super fantastical rare items out of the game period. maybe then people like philantees, valkynsra etc wouldn't shred the entire player base. I realize nobody will want to hear what i have to say because i'm one of the people who are concearned with balance and fairness and equality. I'm talking to a group who's more geared to a kill to death ratio ( pk elitists ) the more an advantage they can have the better right? They are the type of people who don't care how much fun anyone else is having so long as there is still someone to feed their insatiable hunger for "Insert name here is DEAD" " get all corpse "

Yes MY opportunistic MERCHANT thief saw a pile of merchandise, and then grabbed it. I did it to Murlok too. You know why? Contrary to popular belief I have been RPing my *** off, had several IMM exp bonuses, and am very involved with alot of the current pinns. YOu wanna talk about complaining? You started this COMPLAINT thread. I was responding with the legit IG reasons why it can happen. You don't wanna accept it. For your information I only pk defensively, or what I percieve as defensively (some scenarios are open for interpretation.) You think I exploit ****? Here is a breakdown of my recent characters.
Pildo- Gnome invoker? Caster with a mental vuln who followed neutral ethos AND racial stereotype rp? HUGE exploit here folks.
Krusk- fire giant GLADIATOR who only fought with honor, and never went at unprepped foes? Do you realize EVERYTHING in glad requires mana? YOu know how hard it is to keep mana up as an FG zerk? Huge room for exploitation there.
Zix- In a world with mag resist blms, I take one that has a vuln EVERY CLASS can exlpoit, and forced me to sac lots of hit/dam for saves. HUGELY exploited.
Vogga- Feral thief? FERAL? Training was horrible, any bashing melee can screw me HARD. I have less perks than a halfer, no mag resist, no sweet recall town.
You want to accuse me of making something to exploit mechanics? GLADLY. I would love to be go around rampaging as an unstoppable killer. I could easily do it with :Drow shaman, Reaver voker (undead even more so), Savant/Syndi destruction psi just to name a few.
Don't accuse me of trying to abuse mechanics for PK power. Vogga has never even pked ANYONE in his life. He responds to attacks. I grabbed gear, and IMMEDIATELY put it on my "market". There are MANY characters in game who are completely satsified with their transactions, there are some that are not. The ones that are not bought counterfeit items because they tried to negotiate the amount of money I was asking. If you wanna complain, ONCE AGAIN, about armor, find a legit way to do it. Losing your armor to a lowbie, or a thief, is YOUR fault. Not the thieves.
how the hell do I double post?
Take a chill pill and find that delete button already ![]()

i'm simply accusing you of defending those who do. I will say i've seen handfull of your chars in uber rares but i've never seen you pk with them. If "those players" were not given the opportunity to obtain the rares in the first place then we wouldn't have this problem.

I will never defend people who abuse bugs/mechanics or use exploits (holy hands with a chaosbane/blade, requesting nonrares that you give to a mob, and countless others that have been fixed) What I will defend are mechanics. You cannot simply shout this mechanic needs changed cause it screwed you. Every player here has had an out of PK loot. It sucks, its annoying, but guess what? You get to PK them, and if you can't pk a thief who has a vuln with a level advantage and cabal(?) skills you never should have had the armor to begin with.
To clarify, That ogre zerk was collected or killed AFTER I took what I wanted.
also, I am calling bull**** on you not logging in recently. Philantees wrecked you a while back, and I just looted the zerk during double EXP, so a week AT THE MOST.

i dont even know if that thief was you, this one was just an example, it was on easter, i remember trying to bribe that thief with eggs to get the items and give them back to the ogre but the eggs had already disappeared out of my backpack by time i got to the thief. which was the same day philantees steamrolled me.
I find distaste with low lvl thieves being able to snag loot from corpses mainly because of the lack of reprisal options.
You can do nothing about it.
Then the thief gloats the gear they snagged over you and tries to sell it back for unreasonable cost. Here we have a thief able to gain benefit, basically by being a total douche.
When I kill someone, and they have a piece of loot that I want and a low lvl thief grabs it, if that thief had been pinned I would of killed it, or tried to. Not stood there as they talked about how great they are, and then they want hundreds of thousands of gold and/or more lvl 50 loot.
It is an antiquated and broken mechanic. Anything that removes loot from the hands of those who are of a lvl to obtain it, and does so in a manner that they can do nothing to get it back, is a broken piece of the game.
how to fix it? Remove the ability for thieves to loot out of lvl completly? Or perhaps when they loot an item from a corpse thats above their pk range they get the pk range of that lvl corpse for X number of hours.
I disagree Kyzarius, it is not antiquated, it is thievery. Granted with todays small pbase all actions seem to have larger consequence, but it is not the player of the thiefs fault that we have so few people online. When thieves bug me I just bounty them. Good ol' Philly will be sure to mop them up ![]()
