BigMac
Yeah, I work for Dell (servers, though, not portables/desktops/workstations). All of our machines are locked down so you can't do that sort of thing to them - even our higher end precision workstation machines (the desktops that can cost up to $50,000). Most end users would do more harm than good if that feature was enabled, and we (Dell) would have to pick up the slack ($$).
zionpsyfer
Agreed, it's all too easy to fry components if you don't know what you're doing. Now that I'm thinking about it and we're on the subject though.... I need to get a screenshot of my baby. 2.6 dual core OCed to 4 ghz. =D
Chayesh
Speaking of fried components, my new gpu bit the dust today. I'm a little ticked as that's a brand new BioStar card. This leads me to the conclusion that BioStar should stick to m-boards. Thank God for Newegg though. They rock. I upgraded to a higher tier gpu that only cost $20 more. With the $15 mail-in rebate (they couldn't just give me the rebate price unfortunately) I'm upgrading for $5. Newegg then steps up to the plate and offers to send it UPS Next Day instead of the normal 3-day shipping for the normal 3-day price, a savings to me of another $15. www.newegg.com ftw Oh, the BioStar card was an NVidia 6800 XT 256MB AGP 8x. New card is an eVGA NVidia 7600GS 256MB AGP 8x. The difference? The 6800's clock speed is 375 mHz. The 7600's is 800 mHz.
