Invokers Unite!

I'm just trying to decide if I should continue to rank my Avian invoker to pinnacle. I do love the ability to always be flying. Or should I go with a gnome, faerie, or human? I've read the forums about human casters and a majority of people seem to think they're the last on the totem poll when it comes to casters. What about the Faerie? They seem awfully fragile to me. I want to play a sturdy but very able invoker. Obviously without getting to deep into class skills, I know the mental capacity on faeries and gnomes are far higher than that of an avian or human. I'm just looking for a little assistance on what the right choice is for me.

Gnome look like the best neutral ones.

Avians have the Wind vulnerability. Will get you when fighting another invocker.

Humans are nice, due to the easy ranking and great PK range.

I think i prefer Humans to Drow.

Faeries are the best. But i prefer my Elven one due to RP.

I always go good, because of request.

Good Invokers can request amazing things. Evils must kill the mobs.

Human invoker is very *not* recommended due to mana charge. Why? Try and find out. I suggest you try to pinn your invoker, and learn as much as you can. Life will be tough for your first char, it doesn't matter what combo you play. And don't stop playing it until you at least have figured out mana charge. Try to explore, identify as many items as you can, so you know what is hot, and what is not. Good luck. ;)

Got bored of your thief already? No worries, it happends.

Avians have the Wind vulnerability. Will get you when fighting another invocker.

Great thing about high level invokers, is that they get a spell called mana shield, it'll absorbs ALL magic damage, even vulns, so nothing to fear from troll lungs or hurricanes.

I highly recomend the Avian invoker for new players, good hp/mp, autofly means you'll never be triplocked or laged even on a bad day (just a worse day when you forget to cast prot shield), neutral to bypass the protection buff on others your fighting makes a HUGE diffrance in damage.

Can group with good and evils, making sure you'll almost always have a hunt.

Can make food/water so you can run in the middle of nowhere to master your spells, or whever.

So yeah, Avian invockers FTW.

I thought Viri changed that so that you could not cover your vulnerability with MAna shield.

I guess it has been reverted back... (pity i cannot test it, hard to get a wind mob).

And no, a Human INVOCKER can have the same stats as a Elf.

Human goes Mana, while the elf goes HP's.

Remenber its 1 prac for 20 mana, but 1 prac for 10 hp's.

The only drawbacks with faerie are size and hp. You get enough mana to have a 100% charged staff and rock peoples world with it.

I did manage at times to have a faerie invoker of mine, Raeannean at 1100 hp using +hp gear and trians, though in truth I would nowadays settle for 800-900 hp and get some better saves..hehe so naive when I had that one.

Have yet to try a drow/elf invoker, or at least pinn one. maybe one day, I am sure the balance of hp vs mana is much much more reasonable.

Love invokers! :)

Fae will be the ONLY race you can not dump trains into mana if you want an unequiped fully charged staff.

But what I find really interesting, is that every race will have roughly the same amouth of hp/mana pts. Gnome will of course be the exception, as they are a bit ahead. The change from 1 train - 10 mana to 20 mana, made all the races more comprable as far as invokers go. Invoker that scares me the most right now are elf/fae/drow for autosneak. But pure damage? Gnome 100%. Absolutly NASTY. Want to see the highest DPS in the game? Gnome watcher.

I have no given up on the Thief. But, I've also the Invoker which was my first char on Forsaken Lands. I went with the Avian and have gotten him into the mid thirties. Though, a bit of bad luck has left him with nothing but his feathers to keep him armored against the elements. So, I'm trying to decide if I should just go ahead and start a Gnome Invoker or continue with the Avian. I think his hp and mana situation look decent right now and I've got a few trains saved up to dump into mana when I do reach the pinnacle. I've been watching Thicil's success so to speak with his human, and was wondering if you need to know all the equipment, etc before you can really do the same? Anyway, thank you again for all the info.

I still say keep playing that avian, and get into stuff. I haven't interacted much with you, but my buddy (H&R) has, and he says you are learning fast. I suggest you pinn the avian. Life at pinn is tough, but you will learn much from it. And to be successful at PK (I shouldn't speak if this; I suxxorz at it) you need more than just equipment. A poorly equipped good PKer will most of the times win a fight against a well dressed crappy PKer. You will learn about equipment in time. Try to identify everything new you see.

One more tip; You might already have read them, but there are lots of things you can learn by reading relevant essays. Some are not up to date, but most it still is. I suggest you read the essay for whatever class you play (thief and invoker right now), plus Deykaris survival guide, and L-As PK guide. Look for them in the "essays" department in the forums.

Faerie, Gnome, Drow for varying reasons are my tops.

Faerie being the autoflying/sneaking, with stupid dex and a DEEP mana pool,

Gnome for crazy amounts of mana/hp if you are not a retard with trains.

After getting a grip on the class though, I prefer elves and drows, varying bonuses, great rp, and who wants to be a faerie?
