myrek
i'm sorry... but that makes me laugh. Obviously a ranger can survive an invoker (flee plus camo), but there's no reason for an invoker to fear a ranger.
Tantangel
Invokers are still pretty beefy. The thing is though, sometimes armor doesn't always melt away, and usually not the armor pieces with the afflictive saves on them. I'm sure Inyanos has done it a great deal of times, but then again, he's forced to constantly fight against the odds since he's one of the only active Knights I see around really. Some of the afflictive saves armor though is burnproof as well, and you can make them burnproof with various methods as well. And it's fireball that's been toned down so much that it's pathetic unless you have very little to no saves. At -50 afflictive saves or better, it's only doing decimates to LACERATES, and maybe an occasional something higher. There's quite a few Invokers though on their way to 50 and at 50, I think at 50 we really need more Crusaders and Psi's. We have like 0 of both from what I've seen. delfytheelfy
I a rnager can put out ALOT of damage quickly, even through mana shield Pets are not always the way to killing someone, they are just nice to have. Picking the right pets to fighting is the key. I do alot more damage then my pets anyway. Alot..
TheNewGuy
I dont get toasted so bad by invokers... and I only have -55 vs affl and -20 vs saves. so well -65 vs affl -55 -20 = -65? hmm..

myrek
seriously now... how long does that sanc last? how many icestorms before you are wielding nothing but hopes and dreams? it's okay. I've got an invoker in production.
delfytheelfy
sanc last 6-8 hours, good luck having enough life last to cast more then say 2-4 hellstreams.

Tantangel
There is a stave that's useable that grants lvl 50 sanc. It lasts 10-12 ticks on average and grants it to the entire group. Have fun.
Warpnow
Yes, and there exists a potion which casts sanc at 8 ticks most people don't know about.
Boy Kid Wonder
Gotta tell ya, after playing 4 pinned rangers I have never had a problem with Invokers. Never. NEVER. You do so much damage so fast. Hell, you do more than a raged zerker does.
WarriorCleric
seeings how major changes to rangers and invokers have been nilche for a while, and remembering how things were before the Warmaster guy came along, I'm going to have to go ahead and line up behind Myrek on this one. myrek
honestly, neither should own the other. Neither can keep the other in battle. but in a seige, the invoker would be able to outlast and finish off the ranger.
Boy Kid Wonder
I have had as much experience fighting a voker with a ranger as anyone could get. And I have yet to be outmatched. Either its extremely one sided in my favor, or they die eventually or recall. I have died a few times due to dumb crap, but never have I been straight out ripped unless I am naked. And its not like an invoker can attrition you or anything. So if all else fails, attrition them like a bitch.
myrek
huh? they can do the worst attrition: they can actually destroy your gear.
Boy Kid Wonder
How easily though? When have you ever been completey nude from fighting a voker? I gotta tell ya, I never have. I may have lost weapons, but a ranger can use flails and there is a flail that is VERY easy to get that will stop that.
myrek
assuming pinnacles fighting pinnacles with appropriate gear... the value of your gear being destroyed will add up in the invokers favor. if nothing else, you have to spend time getting a decent weapon or breastplate or whatever. And while you're doing that, the invoker is healing.
Boy Kid Wonder
If the invoker is hurt, I am not going to leave the fight to get ONE piece of eq when he is hurt and I have a burnproof weapon. I am going to kill him or make the voker recall and hide while I get a new piece, which won't be the best piece so I will still ahve full hp. myrek
exactly! the inv recalls. you go get a replacement. odds are it won't be as good as that piece you got from winter. so it is a net gain for the invoker. Plus you've burned charges and vials, more so that the invoker. So when the invoker comes back, the invoker is better off that the time before. Of course we are both biased. You have/had a ranger. I had Llyros. The only ranger I couldn't kill was Andolini but I made him run a lot.
Boy Kid Wonder
I suppose, but its still in the favor of the ranger. Thats my opinion. I have never faced a voker I couldn't kill as a ranger. Just because of output from pets.

Ex-D&Der
If you figure cabal skills into it I could see a big advantage for the ranger these days. A feral for instance can neutralize his fire vuln. If he does that and gives his pets sanctuary, he can also keep the invoker from casting. Meanwhile an Ogre Syndicate can cause an invoker serious problems. A === every round isn't going to make up for several lacerates and mutilates, which aren't hard to produce. Add in the Syndicate skills and you have problems. On the other hand, it's pretty hard to fight an invoker with an uncaballed ranger in my experience. I don't know the new sanc items so it's hard for me to get sanc, but still, I find it's too hard to get good saves and good hitroll. Plus nothing to reduce damage--it's too tough. With a feral after ambush and dirt you don't even get a chance to fury before you're dead.
