Labor Day

Evangelion

Recommended Posts

Upon this day, the fourth of September, in the year of two thousand seven, I officially deny the power of the United States government.

For three hundred sixty-four days of every year, and three hundred sixty-five every leap year, I toil endlessly over my education and employment. I diligently work at all projects assigned to me, and barely have time for breath, much less any lengthy respite. And why do I slave so endlessly? For God? For Country? For my loved ones?

The answer to all three is yes. But I also do my duty so that, upon this day, the first Monday of every September, I may receive the blessings of our Holy Lord, and enjoy a resting period. The day that is so righteously titled "Labor Day" is meant to be a relaxation. And until this, the first Monday of September in the year of two thousand seven, I have been graciously granted this enviable period of peace.

However, today is an exception. Upon this Labor Day, I deny the power of the United States government, and even God Himself. For today, I attend classes as normal, and will receive no respite for my endless laborings.

Labor Day? **** you.

Dude... he corrected me on a date, in what was an extremely sarcastic post...

I fail to see how I got "owned", "burned", or "served".

Alright, I'll explain.

If your post was not extremely sarcastic, it wouldn't have been funny at all. Amusement lies in the fact that you went to all that effort in writing a witty/sarcastic post about how you don't get today off...but miswrite the critical date as being a completely different date.

In essence, Valganti's extremely short, laconic reply gutted out the heart of your long, melodramatic, sarcastic post.

It is a perfect example of what is known as 'laconic wit' or 'laconic humor'.

Roflmao.

Honest, I believe laconic wit is the best form of wit there is.

Btw Bali, don't feel bad about it. I didn't catch your mistake either; that's also part of why it was so funny when I read Valg's reply. It was sort of a, "Waaaait a minute....*checks calendar*. Oh sh**, he's right! ROFL!" Sort of deal. :D

Labor Day is a holiday for the working man.

As a barely 18 year old college student, I submit you are neither.

Have a nice day! :D
