A black stone table is sitting here.

A torch is set into the wall here.

Bernud is here, sitting astride a white stallion.

Bernud closes the carved wooden door south of you.

The Council of the Shadows

You stand within the Council of the Shadows. A dark black table is set in

the room here, and you see strange and unholy runes carved into the walls

around you. Several small torchiers burn here, unendingly, and the room

is filled with an almost hallowed stillness, as if something deadly were

being planned here. You feel all at once at unease.

The table is made of black stone. Within it, are carved runes of undeath.

You dismount from a white stallion.

The sound of hushed voices fill your ears.

Bernud adjusts the torch so that the light displays across the table.

You rub your hands together in greedy anticipation.

Bernud brings out a set of weathered cards, most of which seem to be very ancient.

Bernud shuffles the cards rapidly, he cackles, 'So you want your fortune eh?'

Rineslorbel peers at the cards with doubt, and perhaps a hint of interest.

You say 'I suppose.'

Bernud cackles to himself.

You nod.

Bernud places the deck of cards on the right hand side of the table.

You say 'Show me what you have.'

Bernud slowly draws a card...

A human of an ordinary size holds a pan pipe. His face is emotionless

and his red lips are set in a grim line. His thin grey hair strays across

his face. His complexion is pale, yet seems to be quite alive. His blue

eyes gleam a brilliant light and reflect their splender upon you. His neck

is encircled by a red string of unknown material. It appears to be moving

and writhing around his neck. A black shirt covers his slender body and

seems torn in some places. A silver plate gleams underneath both sleeves

upon his shoulders. Red inscrred inscriptions are etched in them, a

foreboding sense surrounds them. His intricately thin fingers wrap around

the pipe. He wields in his left hand a sword writhing with black fury. A

belt of a crimson color is interlaced with the skin of his waist. A skull

of the head of a rat is used as a belt buckle. Scales, as black as onyx,

and as brilliant as the night sky protects the limbs of the human. Finally,

as the scales lead towards his feet, they end in pointed cloth tipped with

golden bells.

He has travelled quite a lot.

Bernud is in excellent condition.

A Small Alleyway

Small candles light a cobblestone pathway that leads down to the end of

the cul-de-sac. In the distance looms a large mansion, dark and foreboding.

Dark shadows can be seen flying above the mansion, circling in the dark haze

above, but you are too far away to discern their physical form. You notice

that the familiar sounds of the streets of Miruvhor have died down, and the

usual riff-raff that clog its streets are not present.
