Pete
Time for me to call it quits. I just completely snapped in game which is a clear sign I need to step away. I'm too fed up running into players that seem bent on ruining the fun of others. I had a blast up until this past week. Maybe it was just a bad run of luck finding myself surrounded by this certain class of player. I'm just not sure I fit in well here. While there are some of you that seem to share similar viewpoints, you are few and far between. The fun part of the game for me was going up against someone in a one on one battle that was prepared for it. That was thrilling and drew me into the game. There is no enjoyment in 3 rounding someone, killing someone near naked, repeatedly killing someone that is clearly even more of a newb than myself, all followed by full loots. I know the concept of looting varies greatly between players. My viewpoint is simply that I take very few items and only if I've never seen them or desperately need them. I WANT you to get back in the saddle as soon as possible and come to get your revenge. More action, more fun. I understand that 'cabal warefare' brings in a different perspective and that you may want to slow down your opponent when you have multiple people to fight at once. I've never been in a cabal, so that point is mute. I'd like to appologize to the player I went off on. There is no excuse for that type of behavior. Clearly, I should have made my exit before I made a complete *** of myself. Take care everyone.
Aulian
Sad to see you go, really... I think every player here can easily say that there have been times when the frustration has mounted to the point where you snap. I suppose the next challenge is to come back and carry on in the face of it. There are people who will full loot, its just the way it is. Hell before I've killed someone who fought well so I left them all their equipment, every single item only to die to a technicality later and be full looted by the same person. It just happens. The point is to get back onto the horse. Very sorry to see you go, but im sure we will see you again. -A PS: I have no idea who you played
Tantangel
I've had that happen to me before where you just can't take it anymore. Some people believe that in order to be any good with their characters PK is the route to take while many believe that it's RP. I personally believe that a balance of both should suffice based off the character you roll. After coming back from such a long hiatus though, I can see where you're coming from, I went from being alright at PK to being tooled more often than I can tool others, as I'm sitting at around roughly 20 deaths to PKs over all my characters and only about 10 or so PKs, and at least half of my deaths were full loots, 6 I know weren't. Take a week or so breather from the game though and come back to try it again, and if worse comes to worse, just make a character specifically to PK and do what has been mentioned before. Sit at 30, PK people, and once you get X amount of PKs, move up 5 lvls and try again. Keep doing that until you're 50 (assuming you make it to 50) and keep trying your hand until finally you get the hang of it. Of course it'll be with that class, which means you'd be able to play another one just like them and be at least moderately good with PK, but you probably just need a break for the time being. Implementor Anume Posted September 13, 2007 Implementor Report Share Posted September 13, 2007 Most reach a state where they need a break, many come back again (fortunately). **** happens. Sometimes mudding is no fun but often the good times outweight the mess that happend to you. I remember when I started here in 1.0 I got very frustrated as well and "stopped mudding" for a whole 2 weeks before rolling a new char. Hope you will be back. Grishnak
I know all too well how you feel. Take some time, breathe deeply, and come back ready to go.
BigPapa
Pete, I know where your at. It's difficult when you are new, don't know where the best equipment is, or if you do, you can't get to it because you don't have 1-3 buddies to help you go get them from the extreme areas of Gear, Winter, Discord.. When you run into a buzz saw of an experienced player wearing things you have never even heard of and all you can do is find the local rares. It's also interesting that most experienced players think getting -25 to -30 saves across the board is easy. ITS NOT! Anyway, a couple of suggestions I have. 1) Roll a good, hopefully you have some goods you can trust to ally yourself with. 2) Roll a healer, locate objects any objects, white objects, green objects, orbs, gems, etc... Try to gate to those things, identify... it will help to expand your knowledge in an accelerated pace. 3) Go Warmaster and challenge challenge challenge 4) Try and make friends in game you can rely on, those that are newer.. myself and Rethrick are a couple that are newer who are always up for exploring 5) Make a few fun lowbies that you can play when youve had it with your Pinn... Im in that mode now after some pownage,, no not by me ( although I must say that even after the destruction, certain Nexus Ranger would talk with me, and waited at my corpse so I could get most of my things back, and Ill give props to this Ranger, I was ready to blow and attacked him right after I put my gear back on, he backed off to let me cool down, and talked for awhile. SO PROPS TO YOU, you handled yourself like a real VET and its not unnoticed. Finally, I am glad to see we are getting some new folks like Pete. I am sure there are many more who do not post here and play casually. We all need to respect them and remember that as new players I think those are the folks who do not full loot ( i cant search the stuff fast enough anyway ) because it would suck if it happens to us. Cabal is different, but remember that when you are PKing a non Cabaled 50 with Rusted Medallions and two Venom Blades wearing Mithril. Chayesh
Just to clarify, one cannot roll a healer. One rolls a cleric. You can choose to become a healer at rank 25 or 30.
mya
Here is a tip. Take a view of your equipment. Next time you die, write down all the places you go to get the equipment you wish. Then review the list and optimize the items to get first. Next time you die it will help you recover faster. Hell, i had to write down all my Invocker eq so that i could remenber what to get. Chayesh
Logging is also a huge help in that respect. You can then do a keyword search on your log files in Windows to find that shiny you're looking for.

mattrious
Just to jump onto Pete's post here. I'm going to be stepping away from FL myself. Just wanted to say thank you to Mindflayer especially for all the questions he answered for me. Also I want to say thank you to the other numerous players that answered questions for me this past month or so that I've been playing FL. It is a wonderful mud and the pbase in general is very helpful. Just too frustrating at this point in time. - Matt.
