worldshifts and keys

how about u never give details on where my character is again?

First person to use the forum (as its OOC) to track be a douche is going to end up with a nasty, not-so-little surprise...

I'm not saying you're immune to PK - but if I see someone camping out for your I'd be highly unimpressed....

Lytholm.

man sand, chilllllll

hah

I was thinking of the same place too. IT is an issue, hell, you wann really get stuck. Go for the dag of div and let the door shut behind you with no recalls.

I remember spending almost two weeks in detention with Faulch.

I agree. I see no reason why world shift = quit. Everything can be coded right? This is one of the main annoyances I've had, but with time I've learned how to cope with it via different ways. Still though, it doesn't feel right.

Usually....if you take more people with you....has everyone forgot taking five, six people with you? Just one BIG equipping group? Re-equipping never has to be a solo project. Unless I'm hunting, I'm always up for helping people gather everything from the mundane to Gear. Granted, I usually want something given to me.

Perhaps I am the only one that is tired of hearing the "Toughen up Princess" thing, but I don't think it helps anyone but the ego of the few veteran players who say it. After reading through the old forum that was posted here, it was amusing to see the same veterans telling the new people to toughen up complaining, whining, and moaning.

This annoys me to no end when it happens.

Especially when those 'veterns' are not so 'tough' themselves.

Course shifts wiping keys is a good thing.

Shifts happen on a reasonable consistant schedule, and you could easily get all the keys to steel on a trip. Wait for that mid morning shift, then go right back in and not have to fight anything.

This would let people have a way easy time farming up items and others would do the same thing and use them as bounty fuel.

This annoys me to no end when it happens.

You know, I'm going to have to go ahead, and uhm, yeah, agree here with you.

But Klemkin, he, uhm, forgot to uhm, yeah, I'm gonna have to go ahead and remind him that, he, uh, didn't get the memo about my slips. So, I'm gonna go ahead and give him one.

Its only Valek that says it anyway. He sure does suck and delete a lot for a guy who hands out "harden up, princess" slips.

hands Grim a slip

Anyone else?

Blows his nose with the newly recieved slip before he neatly stuffs it into Valek's shirt pocket

kisses Grim You wascally wabbit! runs away

Ahem "Toughe...Ahhh nevermind...."

I always enjoyed putting things together for myself in game. Make some neutrals and just drive folks nuts asking questions to you get all the answers you need.

As far as the keys, I hate shifts eating them in tough places, or having a shift screw me over in a tough area that I have been soloing. Anymore(when I can play that is) I almost always wait for a shift before heading off into something I know will eat up a good amount of time. Just not worth it to me to lose the precious amount of time I can play to a shift. I will do something else productive that session.

Or lock yourself in a room with only one key which you have, the world shift eats it, then you starve to death cause its norecall and noteleport. O.o

Well, if you lock yourself in a room without carrying recall/pass door potions and allow a worldshift who has a 5 tick notice to eat your key.... well I am sorry to say that, you might find it as insult, but you deserve to die for being such an idiot.

even if there's a hostile boss or multiple hostile mobs spawning after the shift in that room... not everyones a pro foxx lol if a brand new person joins the mud and gets locked behind a door and cant figure a way out thats enough for them to quit right there. I've quit new muds for less than that. It can be concieved as a bug.

Meh, I was gonna write a long *** post in which I prove you wrong, but then I remembered that I am actually FOR keeping keys after world shifts and losing them only on quits.

My comment was about dying after you've locked yourself in such place, not about locking yourself there.... even the basic newbie who can reach such a place and lock himself there knows that one should ALWAYS carry at least one recall potion.

Norent is a standard concept on many MUDs - particulary with keys (for obvious reasons). Its not new and neither it getting yourself stuck. I've been there done that on FL and other MUDs.

I don't know what else there is to say about this. Getting stuck (and learning how not to) is part of what being experience is all about. Most of us (including myself) only learnt how by doing it.

PS - be thankful there are no Death Traps here like other MUDs ie rooms that kill you upon entry. The only way to learn them - you guessed it - run into them and die. Of course, you then want your eq back so you go running back to your corpse.....
