Internet problem

As I attempt to post a bulletin on myspace' date=' I get a message that Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I am given the option to report the problem or not, but either way, I lose what I've done. Why is this and how can I fix it?[/quote']

Strange as it may sound, you may want to send the error report to Microsoft and see what knowledgebase article it links you to.

I was having a problem where apps were hanging and freezing and I thought it was because I had less ampreage than I should have had for my video card at the time. Instead, I find out there's a conflict with the version of Yahoo toolbar I was running and simply had to reinstall the new version. That cleared it right up.

Occasionally, Microsoft might actually be helpful in fixing something.

Did you "delete" yahoo toolbar or disable it? Are you using internet explorer 6 or 7? If you're using 7, that's probably the problem. I'd reinstall Yahoo toolbar and completely uninstall it (using add or remove programs in your control panel).

You can find out if you're using IE 6 or 7 a couple different ways. The easiest way is to go to the help menu (if you're having trouble finding it, you're probably using IE7 - press alt for the help menu in IE7) and go to "About" or "About Internet Explorer."

If you're using IE7, then go to Tools (again, press alt to access the tools menu) and then Internet Options. Go to the advanced tab and hit the Reset button at the bottom. Follow through that wizard and it'll disable any addon-access that yahoo toolbar required to run. If you do that, you shouldn't have to reinstall/uninstall yahoo toolbar.

Hope that helps.

Vote of confidence here for Firefox. It's been by far less a pain in my @#$ than IE. If firefox doesn't appeal to ya HB, try opera. If neither of those work on top of IE, then we'll have to blame myspace and their horrible design, load balancing and whacked out acid-inspired html.

Those unexpected errors aren't so unexpected anymore.
