Especially when he was asked about the murders of homosexuals in iran he quoted, "We don't have that problem." Although I think Columbia's president was too harsh; you don't extend an invitation to the leader of a country, then insult him on a personal level once he gets here. Calling someone 'petty and cruel' isn't academic discourse; it's just vitriol. My guess is that he was just covering his *** after all the flak that he took for even inviting the guy.
