I think that ferals doesn't need anything new there was one very strong feral cleric Reydik if I remember correctly.

The comments on Demonfire are intriguing.
i have found that the negative effects of fire shield (incoming fire damage increased) effect demonfire.
And it should, since it decreases ice damage...

Lol, I believe this thread is about people complaining ferals are OP, not the other way around ![]()
And it should, since it decreases ice damage...
yes, that is correct. So it recieves the mal effects of fire shield but doesnt do extra to ferals? or behave as fireshield does?
In my case, many other rpgs use 18 as the human max, so that is how I made the oversight. I have no idea about Viri...
The way I see it is that feral ninja and thieves don't need the strength bonus at all. Feral warriors/blms really need it and the communers I feel so-so about. You see, this is the problem I've been ranting about---hard to balance a race, we need to think about by combo!
Feral rangers? They need it to compare with ogre rangers, but rangers in general need to have a lower melee damage output. I want to see them played more like rogues than pure melees. Rangers fight like Syndicate warriors with hide and acupuncture and---but that is for another thread. Mmm, easy solve here is no giant-sized rangers!
give me a reliable way to knock something out and i'll play a ranger like a thief/ninja. I dont see anyone complaining about paladins who have high damage output, melee defenses, protective spells AND ability heal and cure just about every malediction...
i don't see anyone complaining about shamans who can drop just about any class in the game with almost 0 skill and just a little patience wearing nothing but a cursed shield and cursed weapon.
Ferals are not that strong... feral rangers/blm's/warriors are very bad off when it comes to the melee game, because they cant use alot of weapons and you need an arsenal of weapons to succeed as melee, on top of that their vuln and low hp is laughable. a few good flame arrows or flamestrikes and a feral usually goes down fast because their 103 defenses cant make up for those types of attacks.
combos people SHOULD be worried about:
drow shaman
ogre ranger
slith blm
dwarf blm
demon dk/warrior
elf paladin ( don't even get me started on this.)
any reaver invoker especially drow
elf/drow battlemages
Sleepy arrows? ![]()
Sleepy arrows?
feral ranger archer...that would be fun...
especially now that the archer class is more exclusive.
Anyone who really negates your high defense with spells cant retaliate to your onslaught of arrows...well cheaply anyways...
Sleepy arrows?
yea good luck with those, those work on... stone giants thats about it. ur lucky if 1 in 50 works if ur gonna drop their melee you have to make up for it. thiefs can backstab you for massive damage and have traps for when you flee. Ninjas get assasinate which kills you outright.. rangers get ambush which 1 sucks, and 2 lags you while ur opponent is free to flee and charge you/shoot/run/recall/blackjack/strangle/etc/etc/etc
certain thief/ninja combos can melee as well as a ranger without pets on top of all of this.
The point i'm trying to make is everytime someone is successful with something other than a qclass these types of threads tend to pop up. That same player without cabal skills compounded on top of what they already have woouldn't have done as well, now subtract all of the godly gear on top of that and your left with a not so scary character. Some people can do well in mithril with a flame lance, good for them they should be proud. When you put that person in adepus and give him 3/4 offensive abilities his class didn't originally have you now have a pk monster who starts these kinds of threads. The classes/races aren't really that far from balanced with exception to the ones i listed above.
power combo + power gear + cabals giving you access to skills you shouldn't have = monster OP garbage.
no cabal skill should give you access to an ability you don't already have a form of, they should enhance what you already have. Start making cabal skills vairy based on class and you have a more balanced enviroment. When you have barbarian blademasters and reaver invokers thats when things get out of hand.

I believe it does?
Not 100% sure though, but if it decreases incoming ice demage (which I mentioned earlier) and increases incoming fire damage (which you mentioned), then it IS fire shield

- Demonfire != fire (and if its acting that way its a bug and it needs to be put on Prayer).
Lytholm.
see my point?
see my point?
He was talking about the wand though, I got confused the first time too ![]()
Also that demonfire =/= discord's demonfire.
PS. And since you are a fan of shamans, back in the days they had that spell.

sigh, no one complained about Wuuipo.
I furied alot!

yeah i know, i wish they did now.
and to Sandbox, yeah they do...Just keep in mind that a discussion is not an action it is just a discussion.

A little off topic - but I don't think its the races that are making rangers too strong. I think the class itself has a little too much overall ie offense, defesnse, ease of use/survivability etc.
The loss of blind fighting and (maybe) dual parry would solve most of this IMHO. I see the class as more of a hybrid - much like a DK. Strong on melee offense, nice tricks to the class but cannot mix it with a pure melee.
This might be something for another thread though...

rofl anything with a polearm would hands down murder rangers after this. especially blademasters which have an answer for just about everything.

We should go to another thread - but how is that different from DKs facing off against a staff? Its actually worse for a DK due to pugil.
Rangers should be more like DKs ie hybrids and less like pure melee's. They have camo, heal, pets, spells etc. IMHO there are zero reasons they should have the melee capability close to a warrior a lot of the time...

Point is, rangers don't have reliable lag, while DKNs on the other hand...
If you ask me, we should think about boosting some of the other classes (like ninjas, zerkers) rather than talk about "oh how OP rangers and ferals are".

Did he just say I wasn't really that scary? You SOB, I'm gonna make another one and wear nothing but mithril, and not go into warmaster for the first 2 months! ![]()

I was thinking the same thing. Ogre rangers and Vamps (though I believe we need to tone a couple of vamp skills) are arguably the most powerful classes in the game right now. I think we should be focusing on powering up other classes to get them into that top tier and give other players a reason to start rolling some more combos so we can get our pb size back. I.E. Zerks (which I believe are nearly there), ninjas, crusaders, good/neutral sliths, druids.
Make a vamp tassin. I don't know how you can comment on something you admit you've never played? Which skills need toning? The ****** skill?
I am all for a toning of it, if I get use of it at all again. Apparently there is nothing wrong with it though, it has been argued to death already! ![]()
I personally put a number of combos above a vamp, at least a half dozen combos, in the power rank. They are definitely in the top 1/3 but certainly not in ogre ranger league.

I think someone needs to relax.
