killalou
I was looking for an equivalent model or sorts. In other words, Warcry usually gives around -6 svs at 50. I was wondering what model magic resistance and charm resistance fell under. (So im looking for something like you can generalize magic resistance to be -30 svs, and charm resistance to -10 svm)
Mister E
There is no model for it. In other words...You cant jack your saves enough to become magic resistent.
Raargant
Resistance =! Saves Resistance includes, in practical effect, a bonus to saves, but is not the only effect.
Grishnak
Well, if you take that "practical effect," "practically" how much of a bonus does it add to saves? It's actually a pretty good question. I think we all understand that there's a huge difference between resistance and saves, but it would be good to know how much higher it makes your chance to save against a given spell. Raargant
No comment. I personally don't read code; what I know, I know from experience as a player. Granted, I had my estimate confirmed by Irumeru in a conversation long ago, but the estimate was all mine. Play around with it and find out? Zrothum
My estimate would be -15 +/- 5 Decent, but not too much.
Guest Valganti
My guess is -250 +/- -1 to -
Zrothum
-boggle- I think it's safe to say...I'm closer.
mya
Shouldn't it be from 1 to 256 ?
Aulian
What more do you need to know? Magic reistance will mean: You take less damage from spells, Negative spells last a shorter time. Why do you need a number? Want a number. Heres a number 9. Take that with a biscuit and some tea and bugger off!

Take that with a biscuit and some tea and bugger off! A value would be good so that I would know what I have. This would help me organize my save gear and tell me if I feel that I have enough of a certain save. Knowledge is power after all.
Tantangel
Get what you think is necessary. If you get around -60 or so you should be fairly safe, I usually aim for this if it's a vuln or not.
Aulian
It isnt a number value. Its like.... A mini sanction thats permanent. it REDUCES DAMAGE. More then it saves against things.
Zrothum
I'd go against that statement. Cast mals on a dwarf and see if they land as easy as on a human. No damage there, just saves.
Mudder
My estimate is -50 svs ~ magic resistance.
Calron
I'm fairly sure your estimate is way way over Mudder.

Lexi
More like 15-30, I guess.
Ex-D&Der
More like it's not a matter of saves, as about 5,000 people have explained to you.
Calron
If you played a mage, you would see it factors into saves as well.
Aulian
While you all argue about it... Im going to roll a halfling something and come and kill all of you with it. That way you can find out first hand just how it works while you have your thumbs up your arse. *Wink Eshaine*
Mudder
I came to that number because when I have ~60 sva I take DISEMBERS through sanctuary from a hellstream The average naked halfling will take a ** DEMOLISH through a sanced hellstream. So I just took out a little. *shrug*
Ex-D&Der
Yes, and with a halfling you can take DISMEMBERS from hellstream without sanctuary. So what number would you put on that? Brrzztt!!! You can't. If you played a mage' date=' you would see it factors into saves as well.[/quote'] Well, seeing as you're clairvoyant, why don't you tell me what I would see if I played a halfling? Mudder
Halflings are overpowered!
Calron
Saves don't scale to reduce the damage from hellstream. You either make the save or you don't.
