Warmongrel
So who's gonna support me now that I got myself fired from being up all night playing this game? Well, was it worth it I say to myself? Hell no, but it was a lot of fun! Looks like I'll just take one more span of all out gamming while I collect that sweet sweet unemployement. Ohh, and is anyone looking to by a 2007 mazda 6? 6 cylinder, I can't afford it anymore. Atleast I've got one thing I'll get outta gamming while I'm out of work, don't need to sleep or eat or drink aslong as my character does in the game........Eeek. In all seriousness though, was my own damned fault so I gotta make sure it doesn't happen when I find a new job. In otherwords, fight the addiction! Fight it, fight it! Well, starting next week. Anyone know of any jobs I can get starting out at 60k? Can't move down in the world after such hard work!

Grishnak
What did you do before and what are you looking to do now? I'd recommend leaving the FL world if it seriously caused the downfall of your career.
Raargant
You got yourself fired for coming in late to work for MUD'ing? Chay, I think you need to toss out some sitebans...
mya
You had a job at 60k Year ? Here a good job is at 19K €/year, at carrear start.
killalou
You got yourself fired for coming in late to work for MUD'ing? Chay, I think you need to toss out some sitebans... I second the notion. If mudding is affecting your living you definately need to stop and chill out for a year or so...
Warmongrel
Nah, I managed to do it just fine for 2 years, I just need to get some better self control. Was more of my own sleep insomnia problems than gamming problems. Was more joking than anything with this thread, trying to make some fun out of this for my own benefit. I used to be a store manager of a NTB(National Tire and Battery) So far off from my career interests that it's not even funny. Got the job there low down on the totem pole as a temp job when I moved here and moved up too fast to stop. Now I can rethink what kind of career I really want. Seems whenever i get a job I am running the place within 9-12 months anyhow.

Evangelion
You had a job at 60k Year ? Here a good job is at 19K €/year, at carrear start. Cost of living is much higher in the US than in Great Britain. And 19k pounds per year is the equivalent of 40k here. That's a pretty good start, in the US. Mindflayer
Its the exact opposite of what Balinor stated, the cost of living is HIGHER in the UK than in the US. Socialized medicine.
mya
It's in € (euros). And you must be very lucky to land something like this.
elfdude
Haha I live it up on 8.50 30 hours a week, eat that. All the bars, and other essentials I can swing, you all live too complicated.
Evangelion
Hmm... my bad. Still, that's about 30k a year, which is a decent starting job here. Hell, there are some places that pay teachers that little, shame that it is.
TheNewGuy
And 19k pounds per year is the equivalent of 40k here. That's a pretty good start, in the US. First off, other way around, like MF said. Second, it was euros, not pounds. Third off, Mya is not british. 19k pounds is about 40k usd though, so you got something right at least. mya
Where i live the minimal wage is: 400 €/month (8 hours a day 5 days a week - total 40 hours per week) Good part is that we get paid 14 months a year. So that is 5600 €/year pre taxes. The state gets a cut from this around 11+% And the problem is that many people are only paid the minimal wage. For example i was an intern out of University and with UE support, so i earned in my internship 800 €/month (9600 €/year) tax free. But if i went for the 1350 €/month job i would earn about the same give our take 1€ due to taxes. My brother earned less in his first contract than on internship. Also it is custom to work overtime and not get paid in my country. One of the main reason i chose to continue unemployed. Coupled with: -High stress. -Lack of time. -
Pali
Well, how much per month would single-person accomodations be there, Mya? How much would you say the average person needs to spend on food, getting to work, etc?
mya
Well you can rent a room for 150-200 €/month. A small flat would be around 400€ month. A flat for 4 would be more than 500€/month. Public transports (bus) costs 30€/month. A meal can cost more than 5€, depending on place. At my university anyone can get a decent meal for 2.5-3€ (state funded). State forces companies to pay lunch money if they do not have a free cantina (dinner). So that is: 150 from room + 30 from pass, + 190€ from food (dinner, breakfast, lunch, weekends) = 370 €/month. Considering that minimal wage is around 356€/month (11% tax included) people are very tight. If you cannot cook your meals and share expenses with other people you will probably not make it. This is why i am still living with my parents, who will start charging me 150 €/month as parent pressure.
