You have a gun. This gun makes portals on surfaces. It makes two portals. Imagine shooting these two portals: one on the wall next to your fridge and the other on the floor next to you. When you're thirsty you lean over into the floor and grab your fridge door through the portals, open the door, and pull a beer back through it. You have a game.

and btw, your fridge comparison does NOT compare, nothing like shooting a wall, running across a level shooting another spot and level dancing like a mofo

Okay, so it didn't fully illustrate the point.

If at first you don't succeed you fail. This is from some media event and it has the robot narration that makes the game, imo. The beer analogy fits - you just need to imagine using the portals for more than that. Like putting a portal above your toilet and one beside you...

I never knew a game this short could be this epic... THAT... is the power of tons of dialogue. Dialogue made System Shock 2 what it was.

A great story makes a game more memorable than great graphics or great gameplay ever can... graphics and gameplay can always be improved upon, but a great story is always unique.
