The Lemming
I too started on AR back in '99, a friend told me how great it was and how he kept getting killed by white bunnies. Eventually AOL was banned from them and I had to spend countless hours in BANNED CAMP trying to log in. I got sick of it and someone was complaining on their forum about how FL ripped them off. So I came here basically to stick it to them and started liking it here.

Iyorvin
I've played so many muds. The reason I started was because I did EVERYTHING in FF7, only to find there were strat guides online and I wasted so many hours figuring it out for myself. My computer was an old 75mhz pentium1 and I was on a 14k dial up connection, so graphical mmorpg's were not going to do it for me. So I began to mud. Played a WoT based mud that didn't have pk combat coded in, so everyone was doing it through emotes. Was so pathetic. Eventually went to As the Wheel Weeves when it FIRST opened up. Was a great game with great ambitions, then the ownership changed and the level based system was basically destroyed, and new skill system just wasn't worth playing. I went to muds that catered to David Eddings fans, but the pop on at a tme was 1-6 at most and it just wasn't enough fun. So I gave up looking for muds based on books and just went for one based on fantasy . FL came up first. Crypt was in charge then, and no offense to the current Imms, but if it was not for the way things were ran back then, I'd never have made the cut. The help that was given was unbelievable. Course enforced RULES and RP was new to me. So here I was ranking two chars at once zooming along thinking I'm pro, and got in alot of **** for it. Infact I was the first LEADER of the GIMP cabal, if anyone remembers that My prefix was (L)Buttplug Anyway, I'm still here, because frankly, graphical mmorpg's really dont' satisfy everything for me. Especially RP wise. Wish I could meet people like you in real life, because all my friends think I'm a loser

Bl3h
Yeah, on my fourteenth birthday, one of my cousins introduced me to muds and the first one I picked just happened to be FL. It was destiny. And since then, I believe I was the one who introduced most of the players in NZ.

Polk
D,M,&M, three freinds of mine were playing all the time. When I first seen it I was like, what the hell, its all freaking words! Who the heck would want to read all that crap just to play some rp. As I watched them more and more, they talked me into rolling up a character and checking it out. Needless to say, I got pretty caught up in it, and only one of them still plays.

locopostal
some guy by the name of Stryker pointed me toward it a long long time ago...I had no idea what a mud was, had never heard of them at all...and I still don't know why I stuck around through the first couple hours of utter confusion, having my illithid psi killed by everything in the mud school I think i actually got him up to level 11...after a week and a half of playing..
