Hp/Mp balance

I had once heard that if you use your trains early to gain additional hp/mp, the game will lower your usual mana/hp gain each level to balance out what it should be at 50. I think someone posted this on the forum and said that you should wait to 50 and use the trains then.

Is this true?

Second. Does this ring true with things that increase your hp/mana. Not talking con, but your hp and mana directly. If I have something on that increases my life, will it slowly lower my hp gained at each level to compensate?

I am unsure of this, I believe it is one of FL's urban legends. Truthfully I always wait til I have been at pinn for a bit to see what I am actually in need of. With Gogrash, it was definately mana, With Vasraema, it was HP not mana. It all depends on your play style, But for the most part you can beef hp up ALOT easier than mana without having to go on semi dangerous trips, which are usually hard to get together mid/late month given most gear is out and noone works for free ;)

I think there is also a rumor that you get more hp by ranking faster. so I try to rank as fast as possible.

I've never noticed a difference in gaining HP/Mana/Moves based on how long it takes me to pinn. I've always had about the same gains whether I was 30 hours into the character or if I was 100+ hours into them.

As for the gain based off your max HP/Mana/Moves, from what I recall hearing is that at 50 every class/race has a set amount of max stats they can get and there's a minimum as well. Basically it's trying to balance you out with your HP currently based compared to your maximum stats. It's usually why you'll see a lot larger gains earlier on than when you start gaining ranks as the closer you get to those base stats the lower your gains will be so the farther away the larger your gains. So based on that I'd assume that it factors in your EQ as well for what you gain per rank, just not entirely sure as I've never experimented.

Your base hp/mana is factored in, not your modified ones.

The game does try to average you out as you approach 50, so it is best to save pracs/trains til then.

Don't worry about equipment that modifies your hp, as it doesn't do anything in terms of hpgain per rank.

As far as I know, time has nothing to do with how much hpgain you get per rank.

C is right, I experimented with Valadis when I created him a few years back and I was gaining close to max race/class hp up until rank 40 to 50 where I only gained close to the min race/class hp. *Sigh* I was hoping to finally break the 1000 hp mark with this ranger, but now i know to be wiser.

So it goes off base Hps/Mana not off what you are currently wearing? What if you are wearing a neg con item? Should you take it off before your next rank happens?

From personal experience, I have not noticed this at all. Statistically speaking you can't justify your claims with only Valadis. I once (still have, though not in active play) had a werebeast who broke 1000 and that werebeast put everything into hp as soon as the trains and practices were avaliable.

I've never noticed that your HP will go up or down depending on how much it's at. In other words, I've played an Ogre berserker that had around 1100 hp. I've played one that had 1300hp. Well, that is if my memory serves me right. And both of them had their trains put in at the start.

You can't just make your assumption fact based off one experience, or two. But over all my chars, I've never noticed waiting on putting trains in, or not waiting, to change anything. Is that a sound experiment? Nope. Mine is all based in random blather, because you also have to take into account Luck, as well. Which, in my time, has played an even larger part in HP gain than most people realize. I'm pretty sure that luck in itself has a larger role, as in it effects more things than people let on. But, again, I'm no expert.
