Twinblades713
Is it just for balance issues that only humans can become demons or undead? Rp speaking, why can't a drow or avian or any evil being become a demon? Is their soul not as damnable? Is it just to make humans special because they're not very special in any other way? What's wrong with an undead non human. They all end up dead so it seems like the same thing to me... I'm likely right with balance issues but maybe there's more. Thoughts? Aulian
Probably an HP/MANA balance issue due to stats. Your stats will change when you become undead though but those first 30 ranks would have an effect if you were another race.... So i'd say a balance issue. Plus.. I guess its not that big a deal? Because you will be undead instead of undead drow? I dont know.
English lad
There have been demon drow through RP no?
The Wayward Knight
It is often harped upon that anything is possible through RP, but I haven't seen any evidence of this since Gehenna, except for a fae berserker, which was probably the silliest thing I've ever seen. Aulian
Oh yes agreed. Everything is possible through RP, however if the bonus gained from what you want are too much... Expect to be gimped in some way. Everything has its price.
Valsgarde
I think the notion that "everything has it's price" in addition to the top notch grade A primo RP neccessary to get something that is out of the box discourages going for that sort of thing anyway...which may or may not be the point; but I'm against discouraging anything that might limit an RP-imagination. If you've got the patience, diligence, and originality to do it, then go for it...that's my opinion, at least. And yeah, there's been all sorts of weird crap. A DK in Watcher, a DK in Knight (really neat idea but I think their RP behind it was just absolutely bad), Deykari's faerie berserker has been mentioned, a Vampire in Savant (was that before vampires werent allowed in it?), an undead healer, an undead paladin, all sorts of stuff. Valsgarde
Someone should try for an Ogre Cleric. (Waits to see how long it takes before I see than in-game)
Twinblades713
I'd like a faerie shaman. That would actually be really good I'm thinking.
Valsgarde
A few problems with that that just -won't- be done, not without some RIDICULOUS price to the immortals that's not even worth it. It'd require among other things, a faerie being evil - which...totally isn't happening without getting your balls gimped off.
Twinblades713
I never expected it as a possibility. But still. No tripping? Autofly for the bouncing around between mals? You're right. It would be tough as hell, especially with the hella uber amount of mana. But they would likely have a ridiculous xp penalty, have lost their wings, and perma blind or something to even the field.
Aulian
The point is not that you work hard to get gimped. Its balance issues that create the problem. Certain race/class combinations dont exist because of balance. You get gimped so that you remain balanced.
Valsgarde
Oh, yeah I know. And I agree that it's neccessary to maintain balance. Doesn't mean I like it though. I'm not a big advocate of balance though in the first place, if you work hard enough to better yourself. Balance is communism.

Twinblades713
I want a Stone Giant Cleric. A neutral cleric?? What did you protect against, what were prayers like... that's weird.
Tantangel
There was a Neutral Dwarf Cleric way back when I believe in Watcher. He posted his score sheet on the forum somewhere but I'm not searching for it. Seemed like it'd be way strong without some toning down, can't recall what all he lost by doing it though. Calron
When you get special based on RP 95% of the time you get gimped way way below the equilibrium level of balance.
Roykagh
True. The Faerie Berserker lost the following skills: Weapon Cleave Shield Cleave Charge Headbutt Haymaker A couple of weapon types - axe and something else? Double Grip Now, a Fae Zerk is weak enough even with all skills...
myrek
I know of a demon bard, demon drow, and an undead drow. There may have been others. I do not believe that they were gimped at all. The undead wasn't, but I liked being drow better. But they were earned and not asked for. Rewards usually don't have a cost. Just be careful what you wish for. CruelEdict
I had a Stone Giant Druid that wasn't gimped (that I was aware of). I think they knew it was me, so it was gimped by default. As for a Neutral Cleric, that is pretty obvious. His goal would be balance or neutrality (or Chaos or Order, depending).
