Minotaur
got so frustrated twice today that i almost deleted my character. I just hate it when people pile up on you. But when it rains it pours i guess. What do you guys do to deal with the frustration and refrain from delete?
Pali
Set a delpass. Type up, say, a dozen random characters... copy them, then type "delpass ". Then immediately copy something else so that you'll never be able to see what your delpass is again. I saved a delpass once. After deleting that character, I never did again. The Forsaken
Yeah, especially considering your new, it can get to you quick. My only suggestion is to stick with it. Try and get caballed, but be warned that when you do, the frustrations will only pile up more. But, there's no better way to learn than to jump head first into it. Celerity
Just try to remember that winning in this game isn't always the same as winning in PK. Dying isn't always losing either. Just let it develop your character. Unless your PC shut off randomly (like mine does--hasn't killed me yet though!) or you were assassinated/pworded/one-rounded. Then just pretend those deaths never happened, hehe.
Aulian
Yeah exactly... I dont think you can really 'win' here. Someone will always be stronger, and faster, and scarier (*grumble triathix*) Just die and deal with it dieing is as much a part of this game as playing any other aspect of it. There is a reason you are given 60 lives and not an infinite amount.

Chief
Stick it out to Condeath and start again, Just second time round try a defensive character, eg. Paladin, Cleric, Healer. If you stick to it, You will be the one telling the next newb the same thing.

Pali
i wonder how many people condeath their first char I've never condeathed a char. I do not mean that as any sort of bragging. Quite the opposite... I haven't been able to truly devote myself to a char like that in years, and those chars were lost to the only pwipe this game has ever had. Hopefully I'll be able to develop a char to that point again soon.
H&R
I have condeathed one char, which was my most enjoyable one. I had another which should have condied but I got a conquest to extend his life. That char was my most successful one.

Implementor Anume Posted January 7, 2008 Implementor Report Share Posted January 7, 2008 Logg off. Cool down. For a starter I'd suggest rolling some other char and spending some time playing that one until you stop being angry about your main's death. Delpass is a good idea. TheNewGuy
I know a good delpass. How about "jlasdbgosudgosbgjksbgfhkbsdjvfhaasdkbhfakshdbvgfkshdbg186rg23brfakdbf"?
Deykari
Nah, he could just come on the forums to find it out then.
TheNewGuy
No, I'll just edit my post just after he has set the delpass.
Questioner
This is probably one of the toughest muds to adapt to. For you, probably not, I am not sure if you have had previous mud experience. However, pk is pretty intensive here and is regrettably one of the most constant aspects of the Forsakenlands. Rp is not lost either as there are many good rp intensive players out there. I still have my first character on the shelf from three years ago. Slowly working towards condeath, but don't hold your breath.
Hegemon
For me, thinking about how much time it would take to train/rank another character, both exceedingly inane processes, does it.

More training than ranking though, I find it.. mind-numbing.

Ex-D&Der
I've pretty much regretted all my deletes. But I don't think I would be so resistant to doing it if I hadn't deleted.
