A looting proposal

I know that full looting has been an area of contention for quite some time. I have an idea that may work.

What would happen if we made it so that when looting any corpse, you could only take one item at a time?

Let's take a look...

Player-A kills Player-B. Player-B is now making the trek back to his/her corpse. Player-A begins looting the corpse, taking what ever he/she can, but only at one item at a time. Player-B returns and begins getting their equipment back, again, at one item at a time. So, both are looting the same corpse, each with one item at a time.

Things that take place:

The killer has to be selective, for the killed may return to get their things back. So, the killer has to take what the killer can, before the other returns. It gives the killed a chance to return to their corpse and try to salvage whatever they can that remains.

It is possible to take as many rares as you can grab before the victim returns.

Veterans will know which is valuable, and which isn't, in such a way that they can strip the corpse of its most potential equipment, while still letting the victim to not be completely naked.

Possible disadvantages:

Those who type fast get more spoils.

Those who learn the lands and can run fast, can get back to their corpse and regain much of their equipment back.

They will know which pieces they want to keep and select those first.

Finally, it adds another aspect of the game, now two people are at the same corpse. It adds an element of danger and possible RP, since their might be more post RP because they are hovering over the same body, and it presents danger because the killer has to determine what is important, the rares, or being out in the open.

Oh, another side note, this idea prevents newbie and rank sitters from totally hawking a pkill and looting the corpses before the victim returns. Remember, even on mobs, only one item can be taken from a corpse at a time.

Just a thought,

Grey.

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

put all sack

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

get 1. corpse

ect..

Exactly,

Now, if you see the way your corpse looks when you die, the items in your inventory are usually the ones in the first slot if you look in the corpse. You just got a bunch of stuff I wasn't wearing, while it gives me time to return to get my things I want to protect.

Damn beat me too it. Hell most people would just alias that. Would take less than 10 seconds to full loot.

disable the 1. ability. Force get

While I could continue to come up with ways around the system, the point is null. At best, if the system worked perfectly as you intended, it would simply encourage multikilling if the killer didn't get all/certain shineys that they wanted. Now that the 2T/TTPK system is in play, if you don't want to be full looted, go moderate. Or encourage other players not to be douche bags. I try to foster a higher class of play in game through my actions. Lead by example. Do unto others...etc. As the old saying goes, as soon as you idiot proof something, the universe goes and makes a better idiot. Our options at this point are to:

A: Go moderate.

B: Stop being idiots.

Fin.

I agree

I agree. I just thought of this and wondered what others thought feasible.

I like the new system, rather I like this game and really don't care what is in play or not. I am human, the most adaptable race in this or any other realm.

Ok, let me just say something. Not directed at you Grey.

People need to understand that from the moment you die. The equipment is no longer yours. That is it.

Most people only take a few items because they are nice. Or because they cannot loot on time.

I used to play a game where you had to wait 15 min after each death. Most of the times your corpse was empty.

Is this fun ? No.

Does this aids Newbies ? Never.

Does this makes PK more enjoyable ? Yes it does. It makes people fight with intent to live. No giving up because you know you lose nothing when you die.

The new system helps the fun and newbie parts. And does not affects much the "PK more enjoyable" because no one likes (at least I do not) killing hopeless newbies. This are the people who you would not bother looting anyway. Unless they have something Uber. A thing that you still can do.

We still get to full loot other Vets, and everything is the same.

am I really the only one who sets their looting macros as such.

get all.gold corpse

get abyss corpse

get horror corpse

get entro corpse

get nimbus corpse

get vorpal corpse

get Kreyis corpse

get adeptus corpse;x4

get terminator corpse

get encrusted corpse

So on and so forth.

every one just carry gold encrusted bracelets around...

Emp'll screw himself and you'll keep your abyss.

I don't know, but today I had someone with a blue PK flak act like a total jerk to me. You know how it feels when you can't loot someone who acts like that?

Wanting to "punish" someone for acting like a jerk by taking their equipment is an act to punish the player behind the character, not the character...

Kill, wait, rinse, repeat.

Oh, I don't think there's anything stopping YOU from putting in the last word after you kill them.

By the way, I see it as "getting the last word" when someone tells me what I did wrong...nothing enrages me more than having someone who killed me give me advice I didn't ask for...

I completely agree.

Personally when I have someone acting like that to me. I love to beat them into the dirt, then GIVE them l33t pieces of gear, then take it back later.

Wanting to "punish" someone for acting like a jerk by taking their equipment is an act to punish the player behind the character' date=' not the character...[/quote']

Well then, since that is your logic, how can I "punish" a character in another way?

Kill them.

Wanting to "punish" someone for acting like a jerk by taking their equipment is an act to punish the player behind the character' date=' not the character...[/quote']

I disagree. Perhaps that is his/her char's rp and perhaps it was their char's rp to find it offensive. Well this just opens up a world of possibilities, perhaps that alone is not enough to kill someone but it is a step onto that path.

Kill them.

This.

Wanting to "punish" someone for acting like a jerk by taking their equipment is an act to punish the player behind the character' date=' not the character...[/quote']

I disagree. Even in real life it's considered punishing someone to take their stuff away. Things are valued by people in real life, why wouldn't they be in-game? Don't we have an entire religion based around valuing stuff and wanting more stuff? Wouldn't it be punishment to take that stuff away?

This.

That won't have much effect considering the class.
