Seriously?

In all the years I have played here, I have never once looked at an application approval and said "Nah, not until later". That blows my mind.

I think it depends a lot on the current situation.

For instance, if I am a watcher wannabe and we have 4 elite pk'ers at 50 in Tribunal..........and on top of it there is a law stating if you are watcher you get exiled, I don't really want to join at 30 and get trash bagged by cabal responsibilities and elite pk'ers which I'm not yet equipped and not yet pinned.

In that situation, given the 7 day time allotment for application, I would pin first then send in the application I had ready.

Having said that, for the MOST part, I'm with you. I've never once said nah, I'll wait till xxxx variable is met. I send the app and roll with the punches.

I've been playing this game for roughly 13 years off and on. It's always been a pk oriented mud for me from the start, I'm sure many might even associate me as the level 30 pking evil cleric from when I first began. It took a while for me to learn how to pk efficiently at 50(learning where all the consumables and protection items are in the game really) and to be able to remain calm between pk situations at 50(still don't have that under control). The last time I came back I played two of my favorite characters; Gruudik and Vindis, They helped me refine my chasing and running skills as well as what I like to call the "ingenuity factor". But it wasn't until this last time I came back and got hooked that it was more for the rp role in the mud. In the four months I've been back I guarantee I have less than 20 pks and the mud has been far more intriguing than ever. At this point most of you are vets and I've killed you before anyway, but it's a big plus to get to know many of your current characters and to let most of you even help me carry my rp farther. There are a select few still that play the game like it's Halloween madness but that's okay because that's what it's all about. Hell when I describe the game to someone the first thing I tell them is that you can run up on someone, kill them and leave them with absolutely nothing. How many games can you do that in? Not many. It adds such a unique texture that it's 2013 and we don't even care that we are playing a game that's nothing but dice rolls flavored with scrolling text when consoles are about to look better than real life.

So many times we hear people complain about looting when in game their character is dead. If you don't want to get looted, don't die. If you did die, then that equipment did not make you competitive enough to keep it in the first place.

It is the players that break rp after getting looted that show us how equipment focused their characters are.

Just look at Dilorry, barely wears any rares but is very rp-driven and comparably decked in easy to obtain, cool non-rare gear that accentuates the character and makes it more believable. I've seen characters in nothing but outfit cabal gear and a power staff wreck a decked vampire.

The players that take a loss and flip out are the ones that are power-gaming. Focus first on character development from an rp perspective, and consider what the character would do if they found themselves reincarnated. In most cases, it is the player getting upset at such situations, not the character, who would be a reflective spirit or joyful to have a new chance at life. These players continue to get looted because other players feel cheated from character immersion opportunities when other players call them trash and insult the player behind the character. Characters that can take it on the chin and stay true to themselves earn respect and seldom if ever have problems.

Most of the game is hardcoded for pk. Celerity had some very good suggestions to motivate rp code and rp mechanics that support the ambiance of the forsaken lands.

The QA machine is a step in the right direction, and I'd like to see more along those lines.

If not, then we should have a link to the forum on the mud hosting sites. As well as the correct IP.

And the last review left in 2006 was left by one pissed off player. We should all write some new ones, especially to compliment all the work that's gone in over the last few years.
