Evangelion Posted January 20, 2008 Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 Has anyone tried to download the free McAfee suite that Comcast offers? If so, have you had any issues with the installation? I'm having a problem with it. I can download the program, and it gets to the screen where all the features have been downloaded, and it goes to install them. Calron Posted January 20, 2008 Report Share Posted January 20, 2008 McAfee is sucky software in general in my experience. The design is not robust in any sense, and it has huge overhead. I like to joke that it slows your computer down more than just getting a virus. It probably has a lot of memory leaks that contribute as well. archgold Posted January 21, 2008 Report Share Posted January 21, 2008 i have to agree w/ Calron. Mcafee and Norton have done nothing for me! All the firewalls and misc. crap I bought made my computer slow to a crawl......and then one day I also found a virus that makes resembles Norton. It said my computer had over 300 viruses on it, yea right. Shortly after sending it to the shop, I decided it was time for a new computer. Now I just download whatever free anti-virus software there is on the web like AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Ad-Aware. Then if there's something it doesn't cover I search for the removal tool online. Oh yea ZoneAlarm Firewall is really nice too. These four things just about cover all areas of my computer protection.
