killalou
Im not sure if this is coveted info or not, but I am trying to get some advice from advance players in this field. What are some general guidelines/rule of thumb? Thanks.

Guest emp_newb
One, do not enhance weapons for lowbies and make them max + gods do not care for that much. Enchanting armor is easier, because if you get a bad enchant, it is simply a matter of re enchanting, not losing avg damage or damage dice. And identify the items you are enchanting, notice the level of the item when you enhance it. Think logically about that and you should be fine. Dizz
Count how many times you enchant something before it blows up on you.... Train on low level items.

Kyzarius
When you enchant items, look at what flags it has, and gets. I have said to much already
mya
Viri once said that going above 6 hitroll/Damrol was risking it. And i heard some players use -20 AC as a goal. I personally get quite happy at -8 AC. I think Invockers would benifit a lot from having Enchant armor give a single -10 AC flag or just blow up item. Enchanting multiples armor slots is extremely boring.
WagesofSin
-20!? That's insane. I find anything above -8 tends to explode on me
corpsestomp
Umm...-20 is way too much. Even with a fully charged staff + spell lvl eq, you probably aren't going to get much past -10, if at all.

Mudder
I find -11 or -12 ac to be a target goal. I believe after 10 it just blows up, but if at like -9 or so you pull off a strong enchant "brilliant gold" you can get it past. Same with hit/dam. +6 is when it doesn't work to help you, but if just before then you get a "brilliant" you can get it past.

The furthest I've hit a -13 so far on armor, and a + 8 for accuracy, although as you say, it seems to be that you need to get lucky timing with when the "big hit" enchant comes in. One thing i'm still waiting to see is if there is an armor equivalent to the top weapon enchant - the one that "paints the room in arcane light."
