Mudder
So, I really should know this. But I guess I don't. Thera is what the "world" was called before the old Imms decided to up and destroy the world. Basically a parallel universe is where we play and call home now. ...What is the "world" called now? How much of old FL history is truly current FL history? I was just thinking about this little paradox after reading the Kentry story.
a-guitarist
Aabahran a-g EDIT: Reworked that. Just realized how condescending it sounded the way I typed it. Sorry about that.

Mudder
If I remember correctly, it's always been Aahabran. Hence the name... Aabahran: the Forsaken Lands So we cut out Thera and decide to rely on the old name? You didn't answer the question about history. I know the answer, though, should we really be using Thera's histroy for a world that is likely very different? Remember when Tyroa rerolled after the p-wipe as a Drow Warrior? Cephirus
To answer your question, the world is called Aabahran, and these are the forsaken lands. The history on the webpage gives an interesting view of it all, but I would use that as a reference.
Mudder
I know the world is Aabahran. I know the Forsaken Lands basically refers to the continents. (Which in turn, is Aabahran, so they are the same really) But wasn't Thera just the world of Aabahran?
Mattamue
Thera, afaik, came from AR. It's just Earth re-arranged and people used it as the name for the world. It was a good retcon to get rid of it since it was sort of ambiguous and didn't have much to do with anything. The tapestries and the statues in the newbie school still has some older stuff if you wanted to read about all the cataclysms.

Kyzarius
This is post cataclysm Aabahran. or the third age. Go to the normal website click help then read the histories.
Mudder
Yeah but none of that even mentions Thera, or when Thera stopped being Aabahran In fact, I think some of that history is just wrong.
a-guitarist
It was never called Thera. It was always called Aabahran. Just so many people from AR came over and people were slow to realize that the lands were no longer called Thera. I don't remember exactly when, but there was a note that went out describing such a thing in game. Long, long time ago, though. a-g

Mudder
Yes. There was.
a-guitarist
Yeah, there was. But the game was always called "Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands". Well, not always, was called Cursed Sands at one point, but the double "a"'s in Aabahran put it at the top of the list for The Mud Connector. I remember the "theran wind" business being a big thorn in the side of someone on the staff at the time. I wanna say crypticant, but I can't recall for sure. a-g
Pracyntict
Cursed Lands, not sands. And the Network54 forum is still out there. Oh, and Crypticant (aka, me) was the progenitor of the Theran Wind, which I came up with during a hunting trip to Alaska.

Mali
Thera and other reworkings of the word earth have historically been used in science fiction and fantasy. The real reason we use aabahran instead of thera is because it comes first in any alphabetical listing. This aside, I think of the forsaken lands as a place with many planes. Often characters will fall through from one plane or land into another plane. I've had characters get 'stuck' in aabahran even though they come from someplace else.
