Ugh oh! I guess I know who Razkar plays. :-) You killed him and gave me something from his corpse, I do believe.

I -WAS- a lowbie. Now I'm not. Thanks to a nice hunting session w/ you Razkar. Well, actually you left halfway through now that I think about it, hehehe.

Talk about a pain in the *** part of the game right now. I dread the idea of ever wanting to make another character. Starting out new right now in the game is teh suckz.

Same.

I could make hundreds of elf this or drow that and ogre whatever....they're all the same to me for some reason.

but to be accepted in a quest app really makes me feel like I accomplished something with the character and gives me such a feeling of ambition and really makes me feel good about taking the char to 50.

Its almost like having a desc approved, but 100000x better. Its like an IMM coming to me and saying - You know what, your RP with this character is great. I personally want to see you make it to 50 and see where you take it.

yeah, though now I am in the 6 irl days with 25 in game hours since app with no word at all stage. I call this the beginning to feel hopeless but dont give up point in any quest apps career. heh.

It's quite normal to go a week, AT LEAST, w/ little to no immediate gratification.

Just keep doing what you're doing....a good IMM once told me that 9 times out of 10, if you haven't been denied already, then it's not that you aren't doing something right...it's just that you aren't doing enough of it.

Or you could just not be on at the right time for the respective IMM to catch your playing. :-)

Keep at it man. If I can get 2 vamps, an undead, 2 demons, and 2 crusaders....I'm quite sure you have what it takes to get whatever you're going for.

Hell, one thing I have realized with this one is how HARD it is to RP with anyone. People run away from you (not in your pk), order you to leave, ignore you, leave in the middle of a conversation...heck I have been chasing people down, yelling at them from in front of their clan halls. hehe..anything to get any interaction.

Heck I had one ask me to follow them so they could word me and get me to stop following them. heh.

Yeah....it's hard...arguably way too hard/frustrating to have to wait so long. But w/e...got to do what you got to do, to get what you want.

Sucks sitting in CC doing nothing but RPing with yourself and the fountain, because the other 10 (half of which are cabaled and busy) people online are a very, very big longshot to bet on ever stopping by to chat with you.

yeah, thats the thing. Most are to busy to stop to say anything, especially the 50's...a few will but eventually they get bored with you and move on. Trying to RP with anyone in your own pk range is touch and go, especially if you do RP a more violent character.

So in the end you end up sitting wih nothing to do...whereing and whoing and trying to toss some kind of emote at anyone who walks by hoping for a snippet of conversation and hoping on top that that you get snooped while doing it.

That is what inspires the hopelessness I believe.

So wait' date=' what's a quest app?[/quote']

read help demon, help undead, help vampire, help psi, help lich, or help avatar.

In short, its an application or status you get into when trying to earn one of these rare "quest" class/races.

Soooooo, let me throw in a scenario. You're sitting in CC and someone walks by, a complete stranger in fact, he stops to talk to you. Why? Because there is no who list, no where, no tells and you don't know who he is. The only way to find out is to look at him and speak to him and he you.

Or...

Things can just stay the same. Which would be great, if people would just quit complaining. As it is now if you're a quest app, with the playerbase so small most are going to head the other direction as soon as they see you on where and they'll steer clear of areas where you might be due to seeing you on the who list. Voila, no roleplay with you.

getting rid of the who list really sounds like an awesome idea every time i'm reminded of it. props to the first guy to suggest it on the forum. not having a who list would make the world immediately feel more open, somewhat reminiscent of Armageddon MUD. i think the idea is practicable.

OR, your pre-50 but I quickly kill you as fast as I can. Because I am a DK that needs to feed his malform and don't know if I can find anyone else to kill. So no matter when or how I find you. I kill you.

Over, and over. Because hey, I don't know there is a lvl 50 Knight Elf Pally on that I can kill instead. Because there isn't a who.

you scenarios assume alot DVD.

1st off people will run away QUICKER when they have no who list, because they will get jacked without warning WAY more often

2nd already when you first start playing FL you feel a 'Fog' its hard to 'see' its easy to get lost and even harder to anticipate attack...remove the who list..hah..all conversation will cease.

3rd...I dont sit in cc, I may start there but when people run by I chase them down...or at least try to most the time:eek:

With the recent who changes I doubt you will get many non-thieves/ninjas to rp with you while sitting in CC (or elsewhere in a city). :D

Exactly. None of my characters will even stand in a city to shop/talk/visit the bank unless I have spie in the shadows constantly telling me of the danger.

Stopping for a lowbie? Lol no chance. Not in the city.

I will say that at one point I did think that the who list should be removed.... however for most of the reasons that have already been discussed, my opinion has changed. I do like the idea of perhaps removing other information... however as pali has stated before, I may have never meet Barak Obama, but I sure can tell you a bit about him, because his is famous. Our characters are such as well, so why should we not know anything about them. Any further information can be garnered from either directly talking with them or from asking around. Since a lot of the argument seems to revolve around PK, should we remove that as well, or perhaps make it only so that you can pk in certain areas? Well, that would not work as well because then people would simply run out of the area once they felt they were losing.

In my opinion perhaps part of the issue lies with equipment. I am curious how many people truly believe that a character with no rare equipment has any chance against a character uber-decked? I have a feeling that most will agree that the character that is uber-decked should and will pwn the other character up and down dragon teeth mountain. I guess the problem I really find with it all is that the majority of the time as previously stated, is gathering equipment... or looking for better equipment. I would much prefer to spend that time rp'ing with others or fighting with those that would wish me dead. But the reality of the situation as it stands is that unless I do everything I can to get the best equipment I can, my ability to defend and pk properly will suffer. My thoughts to fix that would be a drastic change to the game... in that the only real rare equipment should perhaps be divinely given items. Change everything in game to non-rare, and perhaps spread it out a bit. Say make the tight fitting green shirt attainable at level 30, titanium full-plate at like 45... then ice armor/adeptus at 50. Yeah... everyone would be walking around with what would now be considered awesome eq, but I think it may go a long way to push other people to rp more and focus on equipment less.
