Dead Voodoo Doll
Is 107lvl spells an exaggeration' date=' or was that really true?[/quote'] true I can't think of any god-equipment that's been made lately' date=' unless you're talking about some of the items in Volcano? In my opinion, those did not unbalance anything. Pali
107 level spells has not been possible at all to attain in the entire time I've played here, DVD. It's an exaggeration and you know it.

Pali
sure. There was at one time no cap at 105. Cap at 105? Uh, what the hell are you talking about? Spell levels are capped, to my knowledge, at 55 for mortals. And even if they weren't, there are not enough eq slots to wears +spell level eq to get it up that high... I don't know of any +spell level eq that raises your spell level by more than one, and the dozen or so eq slots that we've got means you're stuck in the 60s, assuming you can find a +spell level piece for every eq slot. And having easy access to high level spells is a perk of playing invokers. It's VERY hard for most mages/communers to reach level 55 spells. mya
Is the spell cap at Level 55 or 56 ? I was always under the impresion Viri had said 56.

Implementor Anume Posted March 6, 2008 Implementor Report Share Posted March 6, 2008 It's funny really. People bitch when the rare count is LOW (it was still more than the actual pfile number would get you automatically). We up rares slightly. People bitch again that there are too many rares. *sigh*
Lexi
I was not bitching about the rare count (I never thought it should be one way or the other, it's possible to get what you want sooner or later anyway), but was commenting a post that seemed exagerated. English lad
I don't think the issue being talked about here is the Rare count Eshaine, its the difference between common rares/regular equip, which most people can get hold of, and the UBER god equip. Personally I kinda agree with both side, I think people should have something to strive for in terms of God equip, but I think it should be on a scale of diminishing returns, so getting that extra piece increases you dramatically less each time you upgrade, rather than at the moment where the increase seems to go up exponetially (sps - yes I'm lazy)
Lexi
Actually, that is only true for melee classes. I've had a character with -100 mal saves, but after 60 it didn't make that much of a differance. Same for some of my casters, after 1000 hit points, that extra 50 was barely noticable. The same was true for my melee character as well with hitroll/damroll. But I could get really good saves equipment and really good hitroll/damroll equipment and when I did that each piece of equipment would make me significally better. EDIT: You build up of awesome equipment over several weeks or months, unless you kill somone for it. It's not like you can go out and find it in a pit or something. I don't see the problem. With common equipment you could kill someone with rare equipment, then someone with a few nice uniques and then the person that's running around decked, or you could start going to Winter, Ford, Volcano, Myran Dammel, Tainted Valley, Marak and other areas to start building your set before advancing to Gear, Discord and Desolation. Yet the playerbase appears more familiar with these high-level areas now than for a year ago, so many of the items are probably already taken and you have to kill for them anyway. mya
"Personally I kinda agree with both side, I think people should have something to strive for in terms of God equip, but I think it should be on a scale of diminishing returns," This is already implementd. Saves are only as good as a fixed number. For example wearing -100 or -10000 saves is exactly the same. There is a "ideal" number based on race/stats/opponent (etc) that is the cap for you at that moment. For example as Viri wonce said Damroll returns on damage are not linear. AC goes the same way, it is quite noticeable. And there is player skill in managing your equipment in order to puzzle out the best overall benefit. I personaly never liked god suits. Especially pieces that give like +2hit/dam -5svs and -20 AC across. I feel that armor with weakness is much more interesting. Like for example the Breating barrel and the Double plated helmet. Two exactly opposing armor pieces, since you only have one head. But the main problem for me are weapons. God/extremely rare weapons have it all. 30 average damage coupled with socktability and hit/dam roll. For example i think the discordant fiber has it all. What ever happened to balancing weapons like the Vainglore is ? Or the rusted chain that eat 50% of your trance skill.
Implementor Anume Posted March 6, 2008 Implementor Report Share Posted March 6, 2008 Re Mya: Identify the fiber some time. Re English Lad: Someone was bitching about the rare count number. (Something like "when rares were really rare", which they are still in my opinion, at least the "good" ones.)
corpsestomp
Maybe the solution is replacing Gear/Winter/Deso/Discord with equally difficult areas, but different eq names and affects?
mya
Just did. Ignore that, age is playing tricks on me. Sorry. I thought it was average 27 damage. Still the weapon is a god gift to clerics.

Aulian
ROFL! You have to be kidding me. Of this GOD equipment there are VERY few pieces. As in: 1x Mask of Discord 2x Boots of spell Absorption 1x God Forged sacrificial dagger 1x Fullplate of the twin sabres. To get a full set of that is EXTREMELY hard. It is almost IMPOSSIBLY hard. When I had my full set of 'ideal equipment' it took me FOUR REAL MONTHS of playtime to put together. FOUR FREAKING MONTHS! The chances of someone putting together a complete set of 'god' eq is EXTREMELY small or limited. OR! They kill someone for it. This comes to one point. IF YOU CANT HOLD ONTO YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT, SOMEONE WILL KILL YOU FOR IT AND HOLD ONTO IT FOR YOU.
