Re: Corpsestomp.

even mastered never try recalling right in front of big mean a** cabal enemies. Run MANY rooms away, and if you can quaff a recall, as it is far more reliable than casting.

Word of recall is best used...

1, when you are near a junction of 2 or more zones.

2, when you just crossed into a new zone

3, when you are on the opposite side of the lands from your home (ie recall to xymerria when your in haon dor)

Word of recall should never be used...

1, when your within 2 zones of your home

2, when you JUST fled

3, when your enemy has the same recall point (though you might not know this the first time!)

Always have some potions, just in case.

Always have curse highlighted in your affects so you know when it is there at a glance.

Always MASTER word of recall.

Old post, but it struck a nerve.

To me this is totally OOC, as people are avoiding the IC consequences of their having been a powerful character. It smacks a little of pure pkers as well, who just want to have that powerful character, at the top of his game, and because they can rank and train quickly, find it easier to just make a new character to satisfy their PK needs than to deal with the fact that they made a lot of enemies who will make re-equipping hard for them.

etc.

As someone who has done this enough times, I have to say it's got nothing to do with being a pure PKer, and in fact it's definitely easier to re-equip a current character than create a new one. What's more, when you do this, people forget about your character a month later so the OOC consequences are quite disheartening too.

I've had plenty of characters with flimsy PK records, and for some reason those are the ones I always stick it out with. But sometimes you're decked with 30-40 straight kills and you feel invincible until your internet cuts out, and you lose everything. It's like, when I forget to save my game in an RPG and I die and I have to go back an hour or two. I -hate- that. And it just brings me great despair to see my uber cool l33t char naked at his pit, begging to be rebuilt. And there's a fear, also, that you'll never get back on top. It's just much easier not to "look him in the eyes" again. So I'd attribute the recreation more to a general malaise than to a fear of being jumped while requesting mithril or whatever, at least for me.

I've never rage deleted though! Never even had the urge to delete or set a delpass at all, so at least that's something to be proud of. I just stop playing them :)

Gah... I have had this happen to SOOOO many characters. Tends to lead to a rage delete for me.
