Ginig
Since when has it been against the law to show your disrepect for tribune (justice) and it be against the law.
Grosek_
Since Tribunal started making the laws themselves I guess. Something I'm really not into, but I really think that if that is the case these new laws should be posted near the roll calls in the towns or something. That or I'll really have to work on my omnipotence to keep on top of whats legal. On top of what can be considered a crime, I'd also like to know exactly who can be used as witnesses, which seems to change every time I turn around. In my time as a Justice, I had to actually be present as the crime was being committed. Recently I was wanted because there were two lawful characters witnessing my crime in town and just before Justice went away, I was wanted because a mob 'witnessed' my crime and told Justice over cabal chat. So much of this would be nice for us to know considering the super powers granted to them to capture criminals.
The Greased Weasel
Why am I suddenly filled with an image of Marty dressed like Judge Dread?
grannym4n
GW: Ha..... IG, I go by what's written in the Library. There are many books, so if you can get something slipped through what's written you should be ok. If not...Marty will buy the book and give it to you to read. But yea, laws are there. myrek
i thought there was a "law" command that told you what was legal/illegal in that specific town?
grannym4n
Oh trust me...they'll nail you on -ANYTHING- that's written in the books. Anything....
Grosek_
'Law' only tells you some basic things. Not going into detail about crimes like studying in town, or disrespecting a Tribunal.
Ginig
With justices it was RULES set and you knew what you can and cannot do so that if you were good enough you could use the law to your advantage (even if you were chaotic). Now, you just get screwed
Acerbity
It's always been if two lawful witnesses saw the crime, that a Justice could mark you when they told said Justice.
Grosek_
Actually when I was playing my Justice in Sept-Nov 04 we couldn't use witnesses.
Warpnow
Yea, used to...you couldn't, not even royals could witness crimes, I had one. Come on guys, it ROLEPLAY...you can't expect an EVIL lawman to be GOOD, Pominsu was just ROLEPLAYING WELL, Ginig. Yea...evil tribunals are prolly gonna be corrupt, that is ROLEPLAY. They will prolly cheat you, that is ROLEPLAY. And are we allowed to have chars with our forum handle as a name...kind of gives away who play, eh? Chayesh
First, empty your minds of the idea of a Tribunal being a "police officer". They are much more and much stronger than that. Think Roman Legion-Roman Empire and you're getting closer. Second, the Law command tells you the penalty for certain types of crimes in an area, if it's a lawful area. Read the Tribunal Maxim and the accompanying laws written in the Rheydin Library (everyone gets a note when one is written so no excuses). The Maxim gives the framework for the Law, the Law command shows penalties. The Laws written by Tribunal flesh it out. Now then, you always could use two lawful witnesses. For a short time, a single Royal was allowed, but that was changed back. And Ginig, are you telling me you think you could sit around and dump on a Royal or centurion and not get your teeth kicked in?
Rairen
And Ginig' date=' are you telling me you think you could sit around and dump on a Royal or centurion and not get your teeth kicked in?[/quote'] Of course he could. They'd probably skip the teeth kicking and go for an immediate execution.
Raargant
Here's the secret to it that I've found. Don't think of them as the cops. Think of them as an Empire.

Raargant
Two lawful witnesses or one Noble/Royal. Trust us, that rule is as old as time itself. FL time, that is.
Warpnow
There are games, where everything is fair. "Getting screwed" as you put it occurred in the situation Ginig described after he chose how he would have his fun. This sort of post is completely counter-productive as it does nothing but stir up hostility. If you wanted to honestly assess the situation, you would see that Ginig's character reaped the just desserts of the RP he chose. I would think you, the constant RP monitor, would see that and realize that RP has consequences for the choices you make.

I DID see what Ginig did and was laughing the entire time...I was standing in the room. My point was that everything isn't always fair, because that is RP. I was like...agreeing with you...the rp he chose warranted a correct response from Pominsu, who as an evil necromancer lawman you can't expect to be your best friend.
