Calron
I've created a program that will automatically submit votes for FL on TMS so that we can keep our rank up without hassling ourselves too much. Its simple to use, just click on the file, and then let the program run. The program will stay running until you shut down your computer or exit it. It makes a vote attempt about every 25 minutes with a randomness to it to prevent it being monitored. The application should preserve its state between standby/hibernate/on, so you shouldn't need to restart it afterwards. I loaded it to the FL wiki, so you should be able to download it. Just click on the link and then wait for the file info to load, then click download. forsakenlands.wikispaces.com (New version as of 7/25/10) Let me know if you have problems. Calron
You have to save it on your computer first, of course. When you click it will give you options "Run" and "Save". Save it on your computer and then click on the application.

Calron
I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow when I can access a comp without compilers and language libraries on them to see what you guys are getting. Sorry about that.

Ex-D&Der
Is this against the rules for TMS?
Raargant
"Can I offer rewards for voting? You CANNOT offer incentives or rewards to players for voting. That means you cannot give players items, experience, or anything else in return for votes. You cannot display different messages based on whether someone voted or not, or reward a player for voting by not showing messages. You cannot have a system that ‘nags’ a player about voting in response to whether they’ve voted or not unless participation in the system is totally voluntary with no tangible positive or negative effects for a player choosing to use or not use such a system. Such a system must also allow a player to easily opt out of it at any time, also with no positive or negative effect, and it must be off by default." Raargant's opinion: No, it's legitimate. As this script would only be used by those players who wish to use it, and have no positive or negative effect on their game experience, and also not make more votes count than should, my opinion is that although it's unorthodox, it's not against the rules. Calron
I don't think it is against the rules. The idea of not letting MUD admins force people to vote before logging in is that TMS doesn't want it interfering with people's ability to play. This is completely voluntary, each person gets to choose whether they want to download and run the program. The only difference between voting manually and the program is one way you don't have to remember.
Suunmar
Was wondering if the link to the voter can be placed back into the msg? I tend to forget to vote, and even though I don't play much anymore, I'd still like to. This would be helpful.
Calron
Its proving a little tricky to make it globally compatible with the 1.1 .NET Microsoft Framework that comes default on all computers. And I have also been very busy with several other things but I will try to finish it tonight or tomorrow.

Calron
For some reason the program wouldn't work on any deployment machines when I wrote it in J#. I wrote it again in C# and it should work now. I tested it on a deployment machine with no libraries and it ran smoothly. The link to it is back up in the original post, and below as well. Sorry about the delay.

Twinblades713
Does that program have to be open to run? Or will it do it without having the window open?
Calron
Needs to be open the way it is now. You can resize it into nothingness if it bothers you.

Calron
I'll fix it so that when you minimize it, it disappears except for an icon in your System Tray (next to the Time).
Raargant
DELETED Please don't do either of those, and if they were jokes, please don't make them here where anyone can see the post, report us to TMS, and possibly result in getting our MUD totally pulled from the rankings.
