Deykari
Anyone have any thoughts? I already have a Nintendo Wii at the minute, and I'm looking to buy either an Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3. I've had a look over the internet and all I can find are biased opinions from zealous fanboys for each console - I really want a neutral view on the two consoles. I'm looking for good online play and a good mix of games - what is putting me off the 360 is that it seems to be bombarded with tons of generic FPS shooters. There are also not many games I am 'excited' about on the 360 (because I know little about them) as opposed to Final Fantasy XIII/MGS4 on the PS3. I know the PS3 has only a few games at the minute but the '08 line-up is looking really good. Xbox live has the online corner covered well, but what about Sony's online effort? How is the PS3 online? I heard there is little support for voice-chat and the like, unlike the 360. Any help would be appreciated, I make my purchase in 3 days. Greyanhk
I don't own either console at the moment, but I will be purchasing a PS3 over the summer. Why? Blue-ray won the HD format battle, and PS3 supports Blue-ray video. So, I will be using my PS3 as an additive to my home entertainment bundle as well as a game console. The PS3, with its current processing power has slightly less load times than the XBOX. And the ability to expand, tinker, and upgrade the PS3 seems easier than any Microsoft product. I not a fan of Microsoft. The PS3, in my opinion, is a much stronger console. Not to mention that the United States Air Force just purchased a bunch of them because of the hardware capabilities they have. So, for a nice addition to my home entertainment system and a game console that is expandable and upgradeable, I am choosing the PS3. Grey

corpsestomp
I enjoy the Wii mostly. The fact that you can buy old NES, SNES, Sega? and N64 games makes it fun.
Fiere
My take: Technically speaking, the ps3 is a tad more powerful, but it's not oodles more. I myself own a 360, mostly because of the reverse of what you mentioned: I like a lot of the games on it, and they are coming out with many more that look great. The only one that tears me up that I'm missing is FF13. However, I console myself with the fact that as I can see it, rpgs are getting better and better on the 360. In fact, looking at the list of exclusive games for each system, as far as RPGs are concerned, the PS3's got nothing on the 360 except FF13. And heck, they said devil may cry four would be exclusive, but it's not. Who knows how long square will be able to hold back. Anyway, I guess they're roughly equal. It just seems to me that the 360 comes out with better games faster, but that's just me.
Deykari
Ah, I'll have to look into RPGs for the 360. Wasn't aware that there was a good selection of them (both released and coming soon). Dey

Malchaeius
I have a PS3 and I love it. 4 Reasons why I will buy a 360 sometime in the future: Lost Odyssey Mass Effect 1 Mass Effect 2 Mass Effect 3 I must say that I am a huge fan of Bioware. a-guitarist
Roms just don't do it for me. If I'm going to play nintendo, sega, or super nintendo, it has to be with a console, three feet of chord that forces you to sit on the floor directly in front of the TV, and someone bitching at you to clean your room or do the laundry. (the official response is always, has always, and will always be, "I will when I'm done with this Level!"). If I'm sitting at my computer chair, looking at my spiffy dual screen setup that took me far to long to figure out I was capable of running, I'm playing Alpha Centauri or Civ 2, or a good game. None of that there flashy graphics **** for me. DirectX 10? Who cares? As long as my planet busters glow orange, and the Hive bows to me, declaring pack brothers in the face of total annihilation, all is right in the world. a-g
Deykari
pfff ps3 smeS3 xbox crapbox It you really want a good console go WII or what A-G said...except I rather just dont download the roms. Already have a Wii & emulators, and a PS2. Whilst I love the Wii, it's missing a little something for me in the games department at the minute (bearing in mind that we don't even have games like Smash yet, not out until June here!). I want something to satiate my more 'hardcore' gaming side, if that's the term people are using these days to differentiate between PS3/360 players and Wii (casual) players. Never understood console fanboyism/elitsm in the slightest... I've looked into the games a little more. Liking the look of Bioshock/Mass Effect, and they are 360 exclusives. Plus the top-end 360 Elite is only £250 brand new, compared to the 40GB PS3 that is £290. Anyone know anything about PS3 online? Does it live upto the standard set by Xbox live? Pali
Personally, I like Smash Bros Melee on Gamecube quite a bit more than I like Smash Bros Brawl on the Wii. And Xbox Live is far better than the PS3 equivalent by all I've heard.
Twinblades713
Brawl just kinda pissed me off because it brought back a bunch of the characters that didn't need being brought back. The wiimote is really not a great option for playing but the graphics, new items, new characters and everything else was great. About ps3 and xbox 360, I think he meant that the xbox live is much, much, better than anything ps3 would have. And I agree, the game range with multiplayability is pretty good. But there are also alot of fps's for that...
Fiere
Drool...smash...not gonna lie, I'm kind of tempted to buy a wii solely for brawl. Love that game. Snake rocks my world. We're doing a brawl tournament where I live in a week or so, and it's going to be great :}
Iconz
PS3 baby! Anoneemus
Has anyone tried the online feature of Brawl yet? I've only done the random matchups, which are 2min time battles (yuck) and the lag is horrible. I'm curious if anyone has done the link-up with friends, and whether or not you can set your own rules. EyeSeeU
Xbox 360 elite is just as good as the PS3, thats why they came out with it. Xbox 360 is easy to manipulate mine can read burned games, so... yeah! Xbox only was lacking in rpgs, however FABLE 2 looks amazing and Lost Odyssey was by far leaps and bounds better then any before it on the console. Xbox 360's online is elite and I do not fathom it ever being overtaken. PS3 is a great system and yes blue ray is taking over, however I have had my 360 longer then the purchase of two of my friends PS3's and both of theirs had to be sent back for repairs already. I give the nod to the 360 for now.
