I learned very early on that I could only have one "full time" character on a mud. Having multiples meant sharing that dedication, etc. Even two was too many.

Certainly if you spent 12 hours a day on mud, you could maintain multiple characters, but this isn't something I could honestly recommend.

Also, you would be surprised what you can do with a single character when it contains all your focus.

I only had one character that spanned the life of all mine on FL, if anyone can guess who, good memory. Even then, when he would come back to focus, another would fade.

Stay with only one character, and the need to sacrifice characters, or even worse, real life because of them, grows much smaller.

To Valek on the original topic - I hope everything falling apart is an actual denial, and not just an over developed sense of perfection. Things can go pretty wrong even after you get it, heh. I recall dying to a mud school mob on my Lich because I wasn't paying attention, lol. It happens, move forward, add +1 chip on your character's shoulder and take it out on someone, hehe.
