KRins
completely off topic, but the last post made me think about it. Are triggers legal? Seems like I see someone coming and I have my whatever opening attack ready to smite them but they get off that blackjack/strangle/bash/whatever off like pretty much before the message saying they walked in is even on my screen (T1 connection so it isn't my lag, feral so I see them regardless of sneaking and what not.). If it is legal...no wonder I have a .002 winning percentage in PK.
a-guitarist
As far as I know they are. However, I never use them as they usually get me killed. a-g
KRins
Well it seems like my PK are going to increase dramatically...It is my contention that if triggers are legal they really shouldn't be. Drastically unfair advantage to those who can use them through their client/can even figure out how to set them. Type...you are playing the game, so you might as well actually play it. Aimbots are illegal in every other type of game...basically the same concept.
Iconz
I dunno bout that man... i found it best to only use triggers that highlight ish for you... like when a spell drops of if someone sends you a tell. The only non-highlight trigger i use is to pick up and wield disarmed weapons... Other than that...they really can get you killed. Like imagine you got a trigger set up to pick up gold... and youre gettin your a** handed to you... so you start runnin away but its through a ranking area that no one picks up their gold... and you keep pickin up gold until your stalker walks in laughs at you and then finishes you off. Or you got a trigger set up to bash when they walk in the room... and youre tryin to run away... you get the idea. __________________ Iconz - Triggers... think gun... cuz while it can help you out of a jam... you can also be in the foot... L-A
Well it seems like my PK are going to increase dramatically...It is my contention that if triggers are legal they really shouldn't be. Aimbots are illegal in every other type of game...basically the same concept.[/quote'] How would you police it? You can't - the text is taken by the client then the client does somethig. No MUD Server interaction here - just commands sent back and forth. I recommend that triggers be used to highlight things. For example - I have highlights on both my sanc/fly and my opponents sanc/fly dropping. I have highlights on wielded/dual wieled/worn as a shield so at a glance I can see my and my opponents weapons/shield (and more importantly, if they haven't go one on). I have setup triggers to chase people as well - which I can turn on and off. They will go after you when you flee and attack you. Very limited application, I think I've gotten two attacks out of it and usually it slows me down as I already have the commands typed in - for this reason I haven't had these triggers activated in a long, long time. BE WARNED - TRIGGERS THAT ISSUE COMMANDS FOR YOU HAVE SOME SERIOUS POTENTIAL TO GET YOU KILLED IN PK!!!! USE THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! As for triggers vs spamming - a trigger will never beat pure spam. If you get a trigger person, sit in one room and spam. You will get them first. KRins
I could definately see how that could be a problem...but then I'd just set a toggle trigger. Whatever openers my char had would each get a toggle key, then I could snap it on whenever I feel like scrapping with someone. And they will never get the drop on me...well unless we are both triggering, at which point...I don't know what will happen. I guess whoever walks in gets whacked first. Aulian
All I can say is that people who havent used triggers think they are an unfair advantage. Those that have, know them for the death trap they are.
Psycho Child
I admit to occasionally using triggers while training. Any other time = pure suicide. I've actually been accused in game of using triggers in pk, when really, I'm a pure spammer.

I would post some examples of the scripts I have written inthe past but people would use them and other people would get pissed heh.
