brsingr
last night i found out that if you hide in the dark and follow people while playing the exorcist music, 7 of 10 people will start to behave strangely, and 5 of 10 people will run. just wanted to share that lol Edit: Whoops. could someone move to OOC thread? Stranger still is that doing it somehow creates 2 additional people. I find that to be pretty impressive.
Calron
I suppose the people that run could be considered a subclass of the people behaving strangely.
Twinblades713
I figured that too, but I like the clown's answer better. ^.^

brsingr
calron's idea is right. they started acting strange, and if i kept following them for 3 minutes, they ran
Evangelion
Uh... I don't know if you people have ever seen the Exorcist... But if listening to that music and running in terror is paranoia, then you can just call me Emil.

Pali
People have this thing where a stranger following them in the dark and behaving strangely (stalking people while playing Exorcist music is behaving strangely) is received as a possible threat. For all they know, you're some skitzo who thinks they're all possessed and in need of exorcisms that will kill them. Lesson in short: When stalking people at night playing weird/creepy music, it should not surprise you that they behave abnormally in response. You're the one behaving abnormally first. KRins
I further tested this little experiment...you don't need creepy music. Just follow them for a while, especially if they happen to turn and walk down a different street. I even had 1 lady (out of 6 subjects) stop after about 11 blocks and ask me what I wanted because she had turned down a couple random streets to see if I was following her and she was lost. I had a good laugh and said I was just testing a theory from my psych class (congrats whoever decided to do this, you are now an honorary psych professor). 5 of 6 looked over their shoulder multiple times 4 of 6 took out their car keys and did not stop at a vehicle for more than a block. 1 of the 4 took out their car keys without a car being parked within 3 blocks. 2 of 6 stopped and confronted me. 1 of 6 seemed drunk and didn't react to me at all. I followed 5 of the subjects for 10 blocks and the last one for about 11 1/2 blocks.
Raargant
If someone follows me for 5-10 blocks late at night, I'd be fuggin' nervous too.
Suunmar
Agreed, if someone is following you regardless of ambient noise and surrounding light for more than 15 minutes while walking, there is generally a reason to act concerned. Especially when you know someone that got damn near beaten to death 2 blocks away from your house when walking home from the bars. Edit: How exactly did you play the theme? Were you rocking a stereo on your shoulder like everyone did in the '80s? Hell, that'd scare me enough right there.

Concern is the only acceptable reaction to this, till the cardboard hits the floor and I break dance to the theme of Halloween. Scared yet? Anoneemus
I have to say, you really should be careful doing stuff like this. If someone tried that where I live (Detroit) they'd probably end up getting shot. Scaring people is dangerous business.
L-A
How can I put this in a way you will understand: You are a f***ing idiot. You're lucky the police haven't picked you up by now. You're even luckier someone hasn't got out their mobile and called their mates whlie you're following them. Get a clue, fool. L-A
Twinblades713
Normally, I'd confront the guy. I'm not worried about getting beat up, but I'm paranoid about crazy mofos with weapons. Thus I would not even speak with them, and I would leave as quickly as possible. Too many variables (other people, weapons..)
a-guitarist
I'm with L-A. Anyone doing this should get their asses beat for being a complete f**king dick. If someone were to play off my paranoia, I'd like to think that they'd end up at least in police custody for a few hours. At most? Hopefully beaten until smart. Did it ever cross your mind that some of these people might have some serious issues themselves (I'm only assuming you've got some of your own)? And that you put yourself in danger doing this? Or that their issues aren't dangerous to you, and only to themselves? Christ, you freaking morons. Grow a god damned brain. I hope that you're not going to do this again, and if you do, I hope the police find you before something bad happens. I really do. I'd hate a fellow FLer to get hurt, even if they had it coming. a-g
KRins
Alright everyone you don't have to be worried about my safety. Florida has next to no gun laws...hell I have 2 AKs and an M4 (obviously civilian models but still...7.62 hurts semi-auto or full) I carry a Beretta 92FS at nearly all times...so if they clap I clap back ya heard? I didn't test this because I'm messed up (well not much anyway) I just found myself downtown with no money and an hour to kill, and contrary to what seems to be popular opinion I wasn't so dumb as to be within easy visual identification distance at dusk. The two people who stopped to confront me had turn around and walk back towards me for what seemed like 10 seconds or so.

Mudder
LOL! Your CARRYING a gun!? Imagine if someone calls the cops. THEN you will have some explaining to do. EDIT: And we have 10 - 20 - Life = Pull out a gun, 10 years in prison. Shoot the gun, 20 years to life. I would say thats pretty strict gun laws.
