Imoutgoodbye
The Department of Agriculture shall issue a (concealed weapons) license if the applicant:: Is at least 21 and a U.S. resident. Does not suffer from a physical or mental infirmity which prevents the safe handling of a firearm. I think you also have to pass a firearm knowledge test, have no criminal record, and go with your local police department to the qualifying range the next time they have to test themselves. And anoneemous is right...there are just some places you don't do that. I've had a butcher knife pulled on me in broad daylight on the busiest street in my town just because I wasn't liked. I got lucky the kid didn't have the balls to use it and walked away, but he also got nothing beyond some community service because he was 17. Aulian
This has to be the single stupidest thing I've heard on this forum. WTF are you up to? F**K all is the answer.
KRins
Yes you have to pass a gun knowledge test, you also have to take a hunting or concealed weapons class. I'm fairly certain I had to wait 7 days to purchase a "non-hunting rifle" and only 3 to purchase a handgun. That and 10-20-life does not apply to self defense. Surprisingly it is not illegal to walk down the street, even if someone does think you are following them. Now if you are skulking around their apartment or something...completely different ballgame. If you could just call the cops whenever someone was walking within 25 yards of you at approx. 9pm in downtown Orlando, we'd have even bigger jail problems then we already do. a-guitarist
Alright everyone you don't have to be worried about my safety. Florida has next to no gun laws...hell I have 2 AKs and an M4 Seriously... I've never gotten anything near a decent answer to this.... Why in the hell would you need a weapon like that? Let alone three? The typical idiot responses I get are, "Personal home defense." or "General safety." Both of which are ridiculous. If you're a collector, I can understand it. But, for any other reason it's flawed. And the personal home defense? I wanna slap 'em for that. That bullet would pass through your invader, then wall, and into your neighbor's apartment or house. a-g
KRins
To be honest...i just like them. Some people spend there money on booze...some people spend money on drugs...some people spend money on hookers...I buy guns. I do save money not having to buy an alarm for my house though. That and when the zombie holocaust comes (and I friggin know it will) I'll have guns with me as I drive to Wal-Mart to make my fortress. I mean...Wal-Mart is the perfect zombie defense place. Not too many entrances, food, water, electricity or at least generators, entertainment, space for lots of defenders, and most importantly...more guns and ammo. When I come from (Australia) there was a case where a shooter with no firearm training other than shooting cans off fences, in less than 20 minutes, killed 35, injured 22, and crippled two cars with only 64 shots. He was using a semi-automatic weapon. Self defense isn't something you need a firearm form IMHO. I can't think of a reason to own a rifle other than if you are on a property or use it for competition shooting - both of which there is no reason for ammunition and the fire to be stored together. Iusedtobesomebody
As one whose wife was shot, in the head, by a young person "playing" with a 9mm... idiots with guns piss me off to no end. She lived, but lost her left eye when the bullet entered her temple and exited her right cheek. in and out it went. Another few cm and she would be dead. Picture that next time you think guns are "cool", "fun" or "neat".
J.Twendrist
See, those are precisely the people who shouldn't have guns... my brother used to have a buddy who was a "thug" and rolled around with a glock. Well, low and behold his dumb *** buddy who was also a "thug" and was packin' was trying to do something with his piece and ended up blowing the first guys head off. I hate people who own guns and have no training with them... this coming from a competitive shooter. If you're going to own a gun, you have got to not be a freaking idiot. They aren't toys and they are very dangerous if used the wrong way. However, if you are trained, and you follow propper safety procedures, things like that are incredibly rare.
