Razkar
I was in the beta for about six months and I think it's a good game. Due to work and moving into a new apartment I have not started the early access but this weekend I will be joining some friends on the European RP-PVP server "Aquilonia". Being a patriot I bought some stocks in Funcom last year and they have more than doubled in value
Anoneemus
Meh, no reason to play any MMO (except FL of course!) until Warhammer Online comes out. That's going to be the next big thing.
Razkar
Meh' date=' no reason to play any MMO (except FL of course!) until Warhammer Online comes out. Have you played the beta?

Nice to see you have faith in it. Have you played the beta?[/quote'] No, but I know a couple of people who have, and they say it's great. Everybody seems to think it's going to take a lot of players away from WoW. My old guild is going to transfer to WHO on release, so I might join them, but I dunno. I can't see myself being serious about another MMO after quitting WoW and Guild Wars, and FL is already taking up too much of my time.

Razkar
All I have to say is wow' date=' the scenery is so detailed and beautiful. Is this game free to play?[/quote'] No, it's an MMO with a monthly fee.

Razkar
GuildWars is a MMO' date=' and its free:p[/quote'] True enough, although you have to pay for the expansions I got the Collector's Edition in the mail today and it's very very nice. Bonus points for full frontal nudity in the art book hehe.
Psycho Child
I'm on Hyborea (rp/pvp). Really liking it so far, so does my wife. It actually feels like there is writing behind the quests and characters (something WoW could learn from). Pvp is no where near as good as FL though. Razkar
I'm also really liking the game so far. I ended up with a Guardian. They are super tough but don't do much damage. I've had pvp fights where opponents simply gave up trying to hurt me and ran away True that, not many games, if any, have the depth of the player combat in FL. KRins
If you don't have the expansions for guild wars, you are pretty screwed as far as PVP goes...man I wish I had the dervish/paragon expansion. They always wipe the floor with me. Is AoC like Diablo or more like WoW/GW/pretty much the other MMOs

There are a limitless number of character builds for the basic classes you just have to be a lot more creative.
KRins
the paragon is just outstandingly sick...they have the range of a bow, mals (since we love our shamans ya heard?) of a assassin...not quite a mesmer, but they are close, and they can heal themselves almost as well as a monk. Dervishes just seem to be completely unbalanced. They hit so hard and pretty much every one of their attacks comes with bleeding or deep wound...and it seems like they have more health than a pure warrior half the time. And lets not forget their healing attacks... My PvP is a ranger/monk (though almost strictly ranger). I have a pretty good "apply poison" interrupter build, but paragon and dervish skills charge so fast even using a short bow they can't be interrupted. By the time my arrow gets to a paragon I'm bleeding and on fire. Fortunately I am the master of pin down/whirling defense/ RUN AWAY!!! And I roll with warriors and elementalists which everyone seems to be afraid of to the point that I can poison and pin down literally everyone in a cap party before they realize the warriors are just a wall for me and the elementalist is cleaning up my mess then have my way with them. Concussive shot for the win when monks come around trying to heal my mals. And hunter's shot is severely underrated...when isn't someone moving? Psycho Child
For a game that just launched, the bugs are surprisingly few. And they are working on patches like crazy. Give them a few weeks to get the first major patches out and things will smooth out.

Give them a few weeks to get the first major patches out and things will smooth out. The game was delayed multiple times, and over a year in length. The beta run was long enough that these things should of been taken care of. The machine specs to even run it are far too high, and the only thing that it has going for it are a mature rating, nudity, and blood. However, I am slightly biased. Unknown Brother
So is AoC good? I stoped playing WoW since my guild cleared BT, it got boring. My girlfriend and I started on Lineage 2, I find that an endless boring grind. I was going to wait for warhammer, but from what all of you are saying it sounds neat. Is it worth playing in your opinions? A review or personal rating would be great.

However, I am slightly biased.[/quote'] Having played in the beta of numerous games, and knowing a bit about the development process ( I am by far not an expert ), I'm just tossing out my 2c. I don't know of a major MMO that was NOT delayed numerous times. As far as bugs go, WoW at launch had WAY more bugs, and WAY more downtime. SWG? Same thing ( don't get me started on the NGE ). Vanguard? Oh boy, talk about bugs and broken quests at launch. Anarchy Online? Held as a halmark of buggy launches. Everquest? Yeah, they were swift on those patches eh? I dunno. As far as machine specs, my laptop is over a year old, and wasn't top of the line when I bought it, and I run AoC on medium settings with no problems. There is the occasional graphical glitch, but thats due to bugs, not my computer not being able to handle it. Is it a WoW killer? No. It's not trying to be. It's aimed at a different market segment. Personally I find its worth my time, and I enjoy it. I tend to be very picky about my games, since between work, marriage, and way to many hobbies, I have little time to play them. If you have a friend who will let you play on their account to try the game out, by all means do so. It is rare for me to purchase a game that I haven't played a demo or beta of, because quite frankly, you can't trust anyones opinion on something as personal as what you find fun. If you try it out ( or purchase it, whatever ) and don't enjoy it, then its not for you. Move on, find something you do like. I like AoC, I play it when I have a spare moment, and my wife does the same. Thats really all I can say for certain. P.S. This may be one of the longest posts I've ever written. Guest Valganti
Regardless, the player killing in any graphical game will just not stand par with FL. I also will not recieve any "active" and "enforced" RP setting I recieve in FL. So for me, FL is a much greater escape.
Psycho Child
Oh I agree. Its a different flavor of candy. I mentioned in an earlier post that I preferred the PK here. And if anyone expects actual RP from a graphical mainstream MMO, then they are sadly mistaken. Sometimes I just like to play a fantasy game with pictures, and AoC fills that role for me. Sometimes I want to shoot punk b****es in the face, and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 fills that gap in my social life. Different games for different moods. At least, thats how I roll.
